I kept thinking she was a Campine, but it doesn't look like she has a single comb. Her comb looks more like a rose comb. She has slate gray legs.
Here is her comb.
Here is an older pic that shows her legs.
She is approx. 19 weeks old. We got her from Atwoods. I believe they get...
My chickens just turned 18 weeks on Friday. I am almost out if there chick starter. Do I start layer feed now, or do I wait until they actually start laying?
I put ice in their water 3 times a day. I put frozen jugs of water in their run. And, I give them cold watermelon or cantaloupe for a treat. They also have plenty of shade.
I've been out in the chicken run a couple of times lately in my flip-flops. I have purple toe nails. I guess the chickens think they are grapes because they always peck at them. Also when I feed them out of my hand they peck at my ring.
My chickens do the same thing. We have 2 bucket waterers with nipples. I see the chickens drinking out of them. I also put out other waterers on the ground. They run up to those and drink like they are really thirsty.
We have hot summers here in TX. I have been using bucket watererers with chicken nipples. The outside of the buckets get hot and warm up the water. Is there a way to keep the water cool?
Yeah her comb and legs say easter egger. But she doesn't have puffy cheeks and she is quite a bit smaller than our other chicks who are the same age. Are EE's sometimes smaller?
I'll try to get a close-up of her comb. She is hard to catch though. Are either buttercups or campines slow at developing their combs? She is 5 weeks and doesnt have much of one.
I was thinking buttercup too at first. She looked more like a buttercup as a baby. But her comb is not very developed at all. And it doesnt seem to be developing into a buttercup comb. She came from ideal poultry.
I feel kind of like "Duh" when it comes to the first one being a rooster. I looked at some Golden Laced Wyandotte pics and that definitely looks like what I have. I will try to look for some a chick pic.
I have 3 California White chicks from TSC. They were all in the pullet bin. They are 3 weeks old. One looks suspiciously like a cockerel to me.
All 3 are pictured here. Notice the one on the far left has a noticeably bigger comb and he/she seems to already be getting wattles.
Here is a...
I ordered the push in style nipples from QC supply. I believe they were 1.27 each plus shipping. I made 2 bucket waterers with 4 nipples on each one. The chickens seem to be getting the hang of it.
I know this is a chicken forum, but I feel like I need to step in and defend rats. Tame rats make excellent pets. Much better than hamsters or gerbils. They never bite unlike hamsters and gerbils. People are quick to buy hamsters for their kids.
When I went to the pet store intending on...
