Mama is sitting in our barn currently I am getting antsy to meet our newest babies. I am a little stumped on how to contain them but still allow Mama to get outside. Any thoughts? -

I am looking for some advice. I have a broody hen sitting on about 15-20 egg. I'm estimating their hatch date to be around December 19-22 somewhere in that date. My question though is that we have 10 adult ducks and I'm afraid that my new hatchlings will be trampled. Does anyone have any advice... -

Yes now the waiting game begins. Just make sure even though you want to help them to let them hatch on their own! That was my son and I's hardest problem... we wanted baby duckies NOW! LOL -

Thanks, she is in our barn, it is locked up at night and with the other ducks, I will have to put a fence or something around her when they hatch, I will have to candle in a few days to see what is going on. I have 2 heat lamps in there for them so I think that should be enough to keep her warm... -

Update: I tossed the old eggs out. Have a fresh batch cooking originally had 12 in but 7 of them are coming along nicely. They are due to hatch on September 28th!!! Wooo hoooo -

Yes, we have 5 males and 4 females. My son dropped one by accident when we were turning and it cracked so we are down to 7. We tried again...
They are currently in our garage until it's warmer but we are working on it. My last flock refused to go in the barn at night and slept outside so that was what happened there. So I'm hoping with non flying domestic this go round they will allow me to herd them to the barn at night for safe keeping! -
