I Have 2 Barred Rocks that are about a year old. One of them was very behind the other developmentally. The smaller one took longer getting feathers and still hasn't laid her first egg yet. The other one has been laying since October or so.

I catch my 7 week old Buff Orpington eating the pine shavings occasionally. It hasn't seemed to bother her. She is also eating chick starter and drinking plenty of water. She has been pooping regularly as well.
