Thank you for this!
I just realized that my thermometer wasn’t calibrated correctly and I’m pretty sure the first week of these eggs ran at more like 9. I have it fixed now at 97.5, but I imagine if I get any chicks, the hatch will be a bit delayed.
These were shipped (I hate setting...
Hi!
I’ve hatched out emus, but I’m new to rhea. At what temperature do you like to set your rhea eggs?
*I know the range that you can find on Google… I’m looking for rhea breeder recommendations based on what they do.
Thanks!
We are parting with our three-year-old female emu. She was hatched here and raised by hand, but is now reproductive age, so now less friendly. Must be able to bring help to load her and transport on your own. $450
I have 5 white Chinese geese available. Hatched May 29th.
Pretty sure I have 4 males 1 female, but *possibly* could be 3 and 2.
$40 each or all 5 for $175.

Well, it seems all 3 chicks I hatched out are females! They’re 3 1/2 weeks and doing great.... but I was hoping for a male. 😬
Any idea how these three will get along? Should I sell one? Try to trade for a male?
The damp allows for a little extra time for absorption while keeping it from sticking/pulling .... but that’s not for long term.
Everything’s finished up and dried now.
@Pyxis - One more question.... chick A seems much weaker than B (which hatched out this morning). Is there anything you do to boost them up at this early age, or just wait it out to see if strength increases?
He can hold his head up for a second, but if pretty floppy. Just want to make sure...
Thank you! I hope it closes up. I’m just going to keep him on wet paper towels in there to keep from sticking. 👍
(And yes, that’s why I really wanted emu experts to chime in. These are not the same as the other poultry I hatch out.... there is no “lockdown” when it comes to humidity, only in...
...my hatches, but these guys are an exception, I’d love advice on when to intervene as to not lose healthy chicks due to my novice emu hatching. 😉
**Update— Looks like some yolk still I absorbed, but hard to tell since he’s still in half of shell. 😣 Navel pics and inside she’ll pics...
Thank you! 😊
I made sure not to keep humidity too high, as emus are SO different than all the other poultry I raise in this respect.
I teach 4 separate ag classes, and I really want some good news for them on this hatch! 😊
Hi!
i’ve hatched countless chickens, ducks, turkey, and guineas, but this is my first time with emu.
I have 5 wiggling eggs at day 53. Two pipped thru the shell yesterday (about 20 hours ago now). They are vocal and working, but seem to be struggling. Should it take a full day or two after...
Hi!
I’ve always raised pure breeds only, but I have had SO many people want random sex-linked chicks this year that it made me wonder....
Would a black copper Maran (roo) to RIR hen cross be sex-linked?
Thanks in advance!
Just for those referencing this thread for accidentally forgetting to turn on the egg turner THE ENTIRE 18 DAYS....
We have one hatched, 2 pipped, and 2 zipping. I expected absolutely nothing... and I am shocked. We have 24 or so eggs in there, and I would be pleased if any survive!
Going to lockdown now. These suckers were only turned for a day and a half. GAH!!! Who knows what insanity is about to ensue. I candled, and the vast majority look fine... with movement. Guess it's hard to see "stuck to the side" with a LED flashlight through a maran shell!
Here's to...
What would happen if I discovered that my egg turned was unplugged...but I didn't discover it until day 16-17? It's been a little bonkers around here, and I am wondering what the heck is gonna happen with these eggs!
Candled them. Nothing was out of the ordinary.
Thoughts? Guesses?
