    I almost cried... Hawk attack

I have seen hawks around here land on the ground and chase chickens, I have seen them go into the bushes after the hiding chickens, if I weren't home at these times I am sure the horrible hawks would have made a meal out of some of my flock. This all occured in a large yard which was...

    Chick Fight

Thanks for your help, I checked the bully and its victim today and I am 95% sure they are both going to be roosters. I tried putting the victim back with Mom and the other chicks but as soon as the bully sees it, it runs it off, I will catch it again and put it back with the two older chicks.

    Chick Fight

My Serama hen hatched 9 chicks about 5 weeks ago. Everything had been going fine but today 2 of the chicks started fighting and the winner kept attacking the loser and it was pityful. The poor thing kept running and screaming, Mom couldn't stop it, so I removed the hurt chick and put some...

    chicks in bad place?

My Serama hen hatched out 9 chicks in an Eglu cube, I waited until the last hatched and moved them to another pen where the babies could reach the ground easily. I knew those babies couldn't make it down the steep ladder to the ground. I had no problem moving them and in a few days they will...

Cockatiels and Boyfriend who doesnt like them

I would get rid of him before ANY of my birds. If you are happy living with your pets good for you. Don't let anyone control your life or make you guilty about spending time with your pets. I was in the same situtation with a man who "didn't like my cockatiels". Needless to say, I still have...

A hawk got into my chicken yard, I have fishing line strung all over the top and cds hanging, it found a way thru the line and when I got out there it was running on the ground chasing my silkies. I chased it with a large pole net and it ran behind my coop and flew up to the top of the fence...

    Salmon Faverolles Chicks

Lucky you they are hens. I raised some chicks last year and as soon as they get feathers you could tell the males from the females. I had two roosters and finally had to trade them off for more hens because they kept tearing the back feathers off of the hens while mating. I had thirty hens...

How do you limit free-range Guineas?

I have had Guineas for about 11 years now, they are "free spirits" and love to wander. It has been some battle over the years to get them to roost in a coop, I still have 3 old males who insist on roosting in large trees on the property. I have been lucky with my guineas that I got a few...

    Which chickens fly more?

My white leghorn hens can fly right over my 6 foot fence no problem, but my greatest flyers are my serama chickens, they can fly from the ground right up into the trees. They are super flyers, thats why they are now kept in runs.
