Hi friends! After a bobcat decimated our flock last year we haven't owned chickens. My daughter is now involved in her high school FFA and she's looking for a show quality birds for the fair. We are most interested in Cream Legbar, Orpingtons, or Wyandottes, but will consider other breeds. Thanks!
Nothing. I think your right, shes paralyzed on the one side. DH wants to euthanize her and eat her. Im a bit squeamish as we have never done either....
She has no visable sign of injuries. I tried putting the last lone hen with her and the healthy hen just pecked her like mad so I took her out. Shes eating ok. I have had her in isolation for 5 days no with no signs of improvement.
A bob cat came in and killed all but two of my chickens, tore through hardware cloth even. I have one chicken that seems ok, but she wont stand and one wing is floppy and she wont move the leg on the same side. There are no visible injuries. I have been keeping her inside in a dog rate and...
Ok this is new, we've always had a cat that never paid any attention to baby chicks. I just put our newly hatched babies in a dog crate in the kitchen and I slept on the couch just in case they needed anything.
I just woke up to find them frantically peeping and both of my daughters new...
Just wanted to let you know I am so pleased with my eggs. Despite being banged up by the post office, today I have 9 out of the 14 eggs you sent hatching! I can see another pipped, so I am hopeful for more chicks coming soon! thanks for the great eggs, it testifies to well cared for birds!
Yes! Oh lets see a bob cat came in and and ate half my flock (which was a real fluke because I live in a major city in the desert and bobcats are not known to this area) and then a dog ate all but one(got rid of the dog), and yesterday she got out and drown in our in ground pool. So I have 8...
I would like to get started with some quality Legbars for breeding stock. Can anyone tell me who is selling hatching eggs right now( its too hot to ship chicks right now)
This project is so easy, I have basic carpenter skills, that's being generous to myself. I was able to get as far as I was in the pictures in an hour. I plan to build out 2 shelves and then do the others as time allows. Im like you not enough time for everything to get done.
Cross posting this because I thought some of you all would be interested in this as a brooder. We plan to use one shelf for brooding chicks and the rest for quail.
In our city we are limited in our chicken family size to 10 chickens. There is however no limit to quail. I did a ton of research...
In our city we are limited in our chicken family size to 10 chickens. There is however, no limit to quail. I did a ton of research at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail and decided that it was something I could handle. After a little begging and pleading and some amazing dinner and...
