Need new homes for my babies ASAP, Central PA

I currently have 13 chickens that I need to part with due to a change in circumstances. I have 2 roosters that are believed to be white leghorns (approximately 8 weeks old), 2 easter egger pullets (one is 8 weeks old and the other 6 weeks old), 2 barred plymouth rock pullets (8 weeks old), 6...

Rescue Chicks...Need Help with Age, Gender, and Breed

Thanks for the kind words. Does anyone have an idea of the age of my two Roosters? I am suspecting that they may be 6-8 weeks old, but that is purely a guess. They are just a tad bit bigger than my 3 pullets (1 EE and 2 BR) who are 5 weeks old.

Rescue Chicks...Need Help with Age, Gender, and Breed

Thanks again! I just couldn't refuse to help such wonderful creatures. It's amazing how quickly one can fall in love with chickens, but it doesn't take but a glance and I am smitten. LOL I think I'm in big trouble because the addiction is getting stronger every day

Rescue Chicks...Need Help with Age, Gender, and Breed

Thanks for all the quick replies. I really didn't want the roosters, but I wasn't about to let them be homeless either. The woman who gave them to me said that she would have to let them "loose" to run away if I couldn't take them because she couldn't keep them any longer, so of course I HAD to...

Rescue Chicks...Need Help with Age, Gender, and Breed

So today I received a telephone call from a friend of a friend, asking if I would be willing to take in 3 homeless chicks. The first 2 are all white and are suspected roos, but I have no idea how old they are or what breed they are. They seem a little more mature than my 5 week olds, so maybe...

FIGURED IT OUT! but now i have another questionn...

I say as long as he seems happy, let him live his life to the fullest. As far as the name, mine have stranger names than Corndog. My 14 year old daughter gave all of our chickens names from Japanese Anime and other shows she enjoys. We have: Hana (3 week old EE), Yuki (3 week old BPR), Miku (3...

New little Baby from TSC, RIP Sweet little chickie

I'm sorry for your loss. You are a wonderful person and that little chickie was quite blessed that she found a mommy like you! Even though she didn't make it, you gave her comfort in her time of need, and that is special.

Why are Silkie Bantams offered as straight-run only from Cackle???

I just got 6 straight run Silkies from my local feed store. I really wanted pullets, but I figured it's worth the risk to have some of these beautiful babies! If I end up with a couple of roos it won't be the end of the world. By the time I can actually tell them apart I'll be so attached I'm...

New Silkies and my older girls! *PICS*

Quote: I was fortunate enough to find them at my local feed store. My older girls were the only three chickens they had left when I purchased them, but the baby EE I picked out when I went to pick up the silkies last week. By chance do you have a local feed or agriculture store anywhere near...

That's so sad. I sure hope you and your precious Lucky are able to forgive and move forward after such a traumatic event.

New Silkies and my older girls! *PICS*

So last Friday I went to pick up four silkie chicks, and came home with 6 silkie chicks and an easter egger. I added these babies to my 2 barred plymouth rocks and 1 easter egger that are now 1 day shy of 4 weeks old. I currently have them in separate brooders, but have let them play outside...

    Pucker Butt lol

I just noticed that for the first time today. I'm glad I'm not the only chicken mommy who keeps a close eye on behinds. I was actually thinking there was something wrong with me for observing such a thing.

4 day old chicks loved the sunshine today!

Quote: I have taken my girls outside since they were a few days old, and the love it. It was really warm, but now it has been cool the last few days, and I was afraid to take them out due to the cold and wind. They are only 2 1/2 weeks old. Since they seemed to have cabin fever, I thought I...

New Pictures (Any Obvious Roo's jump out at you?)

Too funny, but your BR with white on her wings looks exactly like my little girl, named Yuki. Are you sure you didn't sneak into my place and snap a picture of my girl while I was out?
