Thanks, everybody! My husband took them, he's not a professional photographer, but he has plenty of gear (and skill) and totally could be. ;-)

The chicks were actually very cooperative. At a week old, they'd hardly been out of the brooder since we brought them home. We just laid a piece of posterboard on the floor and curved up the back against the wall, and set each chick on it one at a time. They didn't like the flashes, but they didn't really move very far. Each one was only out for a minute or so.
