Just stepped on an uneven surface, my foot probably bent funny and the ligament pulled off a small piece of bone on the 5th metatarsal. Pain was almost like giving birth. All good, just about. Now I have an upper respiratory infection, aka bad cold, so have had to cancel my appointments this week.
They are cross of an Ayam cemani roo and a White Leghorn hen. This is an adult. My girls faces still look like leghorn, and have the black feathers sprinkled in.
Well, we have 56°, had a deluge of hail and rain this afternoon. I'm afraid to check my dahlias. Thunder continues to rumble every now and then. The new girls have now been unsequestered, and have become a flock of 6. They were a bit timid when I let them out last evening, but were roaming the...
Today DH went crabbing and brought home Dungeness crab, I made some baguettes, and we have leftover lasagne to heat and eat. After spending the day on my feet in the kitchen squeezing cooked grapes for wine, etc. It's good to have leftovers.
Guess I haven't mentioned chicken fever hit and I got 6 new pullets last weekend. I was actually wanting brown egg layers, ended up with more neutral colored girls. 🤪 2 Mystic marans, 2 F1 Zombies and 2 F1 Blue Olive Eggers. I haven't a clue about breeding designations, but I guess If I...
I would have thought your area has a bit more warm weather for peppers. I haven't planted peppers after moving back here from TX in 2016. Tomatoes are almost done. I hope they all finish. I might just pull and hang the plants before it starts rainy cold weather. My dry beans are molding a bit...
Happy 🍂🍁🍁🍂🍂Fall, or Spring, depending on where you live. This past weekend the fever hit, and I acquired 6 new pullets, 3 - 4.5 months old. They won't be laying for about 6 weeks or more. 2 Mystic marans, 2 Zombies, and 2 Blue Olive eggers. I will be thrilled when the first eggs are laid, and...
Picked what I think are the last of the green beans, picked dried bean pods to shell out, last of the cukes before retiring them, and lots of kale and collards for DH to take to work. I am out of freezer space and quart jars. Tomatoes are almost finished. Will box ripen, then make sauce later...
I am getting garden fatigue, if that is the term for "it's producing so well, I don't have anymore freezer space or canning jars." Now with just the two of us most of the meals, it doesn't make sense to have a huge garden anymore.
Picked the first ripe grapes yesterday, which is a huge win. In past years, the birds and raccoons got them. All safe, so far, with organza bags and an electric fence, and 2 cats. Thinking of bagging all my apples next season. Lots of worms in them and falling fruit now.
Still picking tomatoes...
What are the Golden brown ones? I see black beans, which I haven't tried. My plants are at the yellowing stage, but they need to hurry up. Stopping the water on them.
