Extension cord out to coop, pros and cons

Since they are not silkies or frizzles they should be fine without a heater. Lack of ventilation will be a bigger issue.

Extension cord out to coop, pros and cons

How cold does it actually get there? It's likely they will not need the heater. I would not recommend a heater in that coop - it's much too small and the chickens wouldn't be able to get out of the heat if they wanted to. They may also not acclimate well to the cold with a heater on them all...

Question of the Day - Thursday, October 9th, 2025

Most of the time if I am in a bad mood it's because I'm hungry or thirsty. If that's not the problem, hanging out on BYC, watching videos, or taking a nap usually solves it.

Did you burnish the yellow? After you burnish you can't layer easily anymore because it smooths out the tooth of the paper.

The right paper really makes a difference with colored pencils. How many colors do you have? Because you can layer them to mix colors.

    Chickens laying soft shell eggs

Any signs of respiratory illness? Some viral and bacterial infections can contribute to reproductive issues. I'd be concerned the chickens might get too much calcium if they are forced to drink water with calcium powder in it. I don't know, though.

She is an Ameraucana-type Easter Egger (Americana)...unless another mix-up happened! I don't think the Olive Eggers from Hoover's look like this, but I could be wrong.

I am even more grateful to still have Delphina. She laid her first egg yesterday and it's GREEN!! I was afraid I wouldn't get green eggs since I never received the Olive Eggers I ordered, but Delphina made up for it.

Thanks, Squawkers! I do miss my sheep, but having all that room for my birds has been so great. They do love the run (and so do I!). Even with access to the pasture they spend a lot of time in the run.
