I've got 13 hens and I had one rooster. He was a little vigorous with 10 of those hens and a lot vigorous with at least 4. I finally removed him almost 3 months ago and recently found him a new home. One hen's feathers still hasn't grown back and she was the worst. There are a few others who...
I have another update on my goofy birds 😂 They have been laying in the new nesting box just fine then I had a broody hen for over a month and now they all decided there going to make a nest in the corner of the coop ( Under ) the nesting box. 🤣🤣
I give up 😄
This is my first egg laying season for my girls. She is not happy with me and on top of that I've got someone ( maybe her) breaking eggs or someone is eating them. 😭
Yea, I made sure he enclosed the sides, back and top.
Before it was just the litter boxes I was using. I don't know how this will work but we'll see. There so funny and I just love them to pieces 😂
Today my husband helped me to make one communal nest box. 😂 Now they can all sit next to each other and squawk away. 😂
So, let's see if that makes them happy.
I have 5 nesting boxes. Why in the world are these hens doing this? This was yesterday and today there was two in there. Do I need to get rid of the boxes and just make one long communal box? 🤣
Thanks ☺️
😂
I would be the hen admiring my shadow. Lol
I've noticed a lot of different behaviors with my chickens. The other rooster Speckles is more of the lady's man. He's always taking dirt baths with the girls 😂. He'll even peck Owlie on the head if he doesn't like him bothering a hen. My Brahma's...
I definitely wouldn't do that but I was reading through some articles after I posted my question and someone wrote that when you have that going on you need to show who's boss that he's just showing his dominance. I'm always the only one who is around the chickens so maybe I'll give that a try...
...and just let him free range all day till night. I also could just find him another home. He's a beautiful Americana and his brother is even more beautiful. Any suggestions on what I should do?
** Owlie is the Gray Rooster **
I was just letting y'all see how pretty Speckles is also. Lol...
Thank you, I'll check into a hen saddle if I see it's getting worse. I do have some Blue Kote on hand from a pecking issue earlier on if it gets too bad.
This is my first time raising chickens on my own since I was young and at home.
There my babies 😊
