Oh, and thank you by the way. It took a while to figure out what to call them! Yara means water goddess, and posey because she hatched upside down and was very small. :)
I'm not ready for snow either! I'm located in Utah, and have been told this is not the usual time to start snowing; a little early I guess. The ducks like it though!
Are these Fawn and White Runners? I only have three girls right now (ancona, and Buff orp), but in the spring I'm going to add a few more, and haven't decided on breed. I've been eyeballing the 300's. I actually bought a chocolate runner by accident several months ago, and was initially...
I really haven't spent a whole lot of time on byc the last couple of months, but I wanted to throw out a "check in" for my Toadbriar girls, and Metzer Buff for those of you who have seen them in the past, or just enjoy seeing ducky pictures.
A little background on the girls; I had seven...
Wow, I haven't been on this thread forever, and the unviewed number count proved that; I believe I hit around 200 or so. After skimming through some of the posts I belatedly realized that If mom (SashaT) is inheriting a fancy incubator, our old one is perfect for more little ducklings, correct...
I love all these pictures!
I have two ancona females, and one female buff Orpington. I'm considering hatching some Australian spotted bantams in the spring though! :) (I really like the silver appleyard bantams too. maybe both?)
Here are my anconas, about one week old, and my 2 1/2-3 week...
Some pictures of my girls I took while their pool was filling up.
(I have two anconas, and one Buff Orp.)
Yara (Yara as in Yarn, but with an A at the end instead of an N)
Posie, my little flower. she tried to pip on the wrong end of her egg, opposite of the air cell.)
carefully...
Warning, picture overload! I went out with my camera this morning, and shot tons of pictures while their pool was refilling. enjoy! ;) (Also, I have to say that although I LOVE seeing them grow up, I'm really missing having babies around!)
Posie did this several times when I tried taking an up...
I'm quite sure they're my favorite breed. I've had quite a few, but these gals have a pretty firm spot in my heart. :) I really love the buffs, and the Swedish, too though!
Thank you! It'll be tough finding a drake to match them I think. I decided on not keeping one permanently for now, but I'm definitely going to have to see If I can match them up when they're older, with a handsome fella. :)
who did Yara's mom end up being then? Posie seems to have inherited more than just HoneyBadger's looks then, she's a pretty chill girl. She's always the first to come running up to me for treats, too.
I won't be able to thank you enough for them, they're wonderful! :)
You're welcome!
They're such fun girls. Posie was my miracle baby, too. she pipped on the wrong end of the egg (opposite to the air cell), but she's growing up very nicely now! ;)
Thought I'd throw out an update on my Ancona ladies; I got their hatching eggs from ToadBrior, and my ducklings hatch on June 27th, and 28th. They're growing up so beautifully! Posie is a lavender Ancona, however she has blue feathers splashing around here and there, as well as several tan spots...
am I the only one with a psycho welshie? Aurora is gold phase, and absolutely stunning, but shes crazy. I was fully expecting to have calm ducks but the majority were not. so disappointed since I really love the breed, and they're very pretty. Charlie, a boy, was very sweet and I regret selling...
I have one ancona to sell; So far I believe she's a Blue and white, but her coloring changes a lot as she gets older. she's very sweet, and isn't afraid to eat out of my hands at all. She's just started to become a little flighty, but I think that is more because of her age, not because she is...
Here are my four Anconas. they'll be turning 3 wks old tomorrow, and Friday. I have to say this hatch has been a really strange experience; but I love them to death, and they're very social and friendly. Pic overload warning lol
Here's Yara, a Black female. She was shrink wrapped in her egg...
