I can't quite believe that my husband's first reaction was to run for the camera. He thanjs you for the compliment.
Why can't I find a pic or description of a clock snake? It has been out there coexisting with the hens for days and hasn't bothered them at all. But it does like eggs.
I took another look this afternoon and besides the two I'm pretty sure are roos, only one other is showing wattles and they are smaller and lighter in color. So, I will call that one a maybe. 9 of 12 seems awesome to me.

12 chicks hatched in November, 4 black, 5 blue, and 3 lavender orpingtons. 10 weeks old. 1 black and 1 lav are definitely roos. The rest? Sure look like pullets to me. The two roos are starting to get longish hairlike tailfeathers and red combs that are larger than the rest. They have not...
We moved ours out the day before Christmas. The day they turned 4 weeks old. We built a pen and put the brooder inside it with an open door. The brooder still has a lamp on thermastat in it set at 75 degrees. They seem just fine. They love going in and out and they run in and warm up when...

This is a VERY bad idea.
I wouldn't put a heat pack in, if the eggs get too warm they will start prematurely developing. I would use lots of insulation - Put them carefully packed into one box, then put into a larger box with lots and lots of crumpled newspaper.
Update: the remaining 8 have perked up and are eating, drinking, pooping, running around, and sleeping. I had to deal with one pasty butt, the rest seem perfectly okay. They are very skittish. I had ordered 6 blue orps and 4 lavender orps. Sadly, 3 of the 4 lavs were doa. My seller sent me...
Express Mail screwed up and delivered 24 hours late. 5 were dead. The rest might be all right, although they look pretty weak.
I guess I have to find out about filing the insurance claim.
Try not to worry. On my big Day 21, the first to hatch pipped around 2 p.m. and hatched out 3 and 1/2 hours later. The next hatched around 10 p.m., then midnight, then the last around 4 a.m.
It is an exercise in patience.
