I have 12 hens and a rooster. They are Black and Gold Sexlinks. They were doing great just two weeks ago. They were averaging 10 to 11 eggs a day and then all of a sudden I get just 1 or two. We had a rough cold snap about three weeks ago but they were laying fine through that and afterwards...
I got my first egg today! But I'm 700 miles away in St. Louis Missouri. My folks found it today, it was a wind egg. I've been waiting 25 weeks and this is how they repay me?
Wifeofachickenman, I commend you on defending your husband and his craft. obviously, everyone has the ability to see the details describing the coop. If one likes everything there is to know, they may like it, if they don't... Well My mom always told me if you don't have something nice to say...
kartking, youre right I bought one because i thought it would be great for long distance squirreling. However, It fairly well "cleans" one at 100 yards. and really who wants to shoot squirrels that far away. BTW Great buy on the .410/22 JEALOUS!

mmm.... if I saw a huge gap in hatch rates, I would probably look at what I did, examine the eggs that didn;t make it(to see what went wrong) and then try it again after fixing things up a bit. After that, I would see which had a better hatch rate; box and lamp or incubator. Then I...
I was just complaining of the same issue. Who knows when they will lay... But I have been talking to them about fried chicken chicken soup and baked chicken and .... well you get the Idea. Still I havent the first egg. Time to step up pressure.
Thanks Kittymomma, Good words and advice. Thankfully I am vigilante with the coop. I cant stand a coop that smells, so it gets scooped and fresh shavings every couple of weeks. It gets a bit expensive but worth it for the girls and for the fresh air. I am thinking though that they will be almost...
kittymomma, I want to go back to the space thing. Am I hurting my girls with the space I have? Should I let them out all day long? even if Im not home to protect them.
most weekdays they get let out at 3pm. and stay out untill they put themselves up. On weekends they get let out at 6 am and stay out all day. (unless they go in on their own)
The combs are quite red,and have been for a couple of weeks with the exception of one who is just now turning red.
I...
no, no pecking, no feather eating, they all get along very well...(they are actually sweet to one another) They are the same age with the exception of Roo, who is a year older than the girls. I was out today watching them and I think that a few of them may be "close" . I say this because they...
my girls are 24 weeks. they are on laying pellets. They are in a 9ft by 9ft. coop and always have food and other treats ie. veggies and biscuits and popcorn (without oil or salt) I am just at a loss here. I tried watching them and where they hang out, but they just all spread out around the...
Boy I sure hope I find an egg. They do range when I am home. On most weekdays they are locked up in the coop and get to be free when someone is home. I am starting to wonder if they are eating their eggs. Would I be able to tell if they were?
Still No Eggs. Black sex-links and gold sexlinks 12 girls and 1 Roo. I have read them chicken recipes and still nothing. I am starting to expect an egg from my Roo before I get one from the girls!
The pics of the wet polish was a hoot. I still don't know if they'll get sick. But hey, I guess sometimes they know best. Or at least they know what they like the best.
So,... they like the rain but not the Hose? How much more strange can these critters get? They like styrofoam but not strawberries. and then there is the RABBIT
Thanks Ya'll I was wondering if I just had stupid chickens
