Sunny today. I'll be planting my garlic and multiplier onions today. It's nice that the ground got a good soaking yesterday, and there is some more rain predicted in the next 2-3 days. Perfect time to plant these things and let them establish roots before the ground freezes.
Speaking of...
I do my best to be the customer that store employees like to see. What does it cost me? Nothing at all. What do I get out of it? You know the smile that lights up someone's face when they're happy to see you? I get a few of those.
I've been behind the counter in a few retail situations in my...
I will prep and plant my garlic.
I'll move the bottles of kombucha to the fridge.
I might make yogurt.
Doing a load of laundry would be a good idea.
The first two have to happen.
I have an egg skelter somewhat like the one on the right. The bottom is wider than the top, which helps with stability. It still feels tippy to me, and I've almost knocked it over a couple times.
The eggs don't really roll down, since they're not spherical. I still use it to store eggs anyway...
2 3/8" of rain in the bucket. Except for some spots on the road and one spot in the farmer's field, there is no standing water. The ground drank it all in. :)
Probably 2" of rain in the bucket rain gauge! :celebrate There is a small bit of washout in the driveway, but so it goes. You can just about hear the ground and the trees say, "Thank you, thank you."
We are getting a good soaking today. About 2" in the bucket rain gauge so far, and it's still coming down. They forecast an "all day rain event," and it sure looks like it could be one.
:clap
I will have to add some powdered sulfur to my soil. My soil is naturally slightly acidic. I'll have some hills that yield several big potatoes, some that yield several small-medium ones. And then there are the hills that have one or two small taters and that's it.
Since it is raining , :clap it will be an inside day. Hubby will watch football. I'm making grownies, might make some apple cranberry jam, and if I run out of things to do, I'll take a nap.
We have had over an inch of rain, maybe closer to two. A bit of washout in the driveway, but not bad. The ground is soaking it up as it comes down. More falling and on the way. :clap
You can just about hear the ground and trees saying, "Thank you, thank you."
Last April, when hubby went on his spring trip to Charlotte, NC, to visit his dad, a friend told me, "Well, just pack up your chickens and take them to one of your online chicken friends to watch for a week. Then offer to do the same when they go on vacation."
It was pointless to try explain...
That's why I haven't gone anywhere in nearly two years, when my chicken sitter had a heart attack. I don't mind, actually; home is my favorite place to be.
My next door neighbors have chickens. I would never, ever let them be in charge of mine. I told hubby if I went away and had them take...
