    Dust bath

Do you let them free-range at all? I see all that nice yard of yours they would LOVE! You could just take a couple of shovels full of sod off near there and they'd be all over it!

Well if this isn't the best picture I've ever taken of the coop ❄️🩵❄️

We have, I think, four cozy coop heaters for our growout pens. They are the cats meow! The coops have different heaters though.

WHY WOBBLY? WILL SHE MAKE IT? brand new pullet seems drunk

As I mentioned in your other post, I think she's weak from transport, plus, she's smaller, so make sure she's getting enough to eat. I know you said you put Poultry Cell in their water, so that's good! I would give her a special mash mix with a raw egg yolk mixed in. That may help the veins...

    Dust bath

Here in the summer they make dust baths wherever they are so inclined. In the winter, they can't, so we put giant kitty litter bins with garden dirt, a little wood ash from our furnace, and a bit of DE. Those will fit about 4-5 silkies dustbathing at a time. We keep a bucket of garden dirt...

Well if this isn't the best picture I've ever taken of the coop ❄️🩵❄️

That's our main coop on the right in the distance, lit up. There is a yard light way over to the right side that keeps that side of the yard closest to the forest lit up, but not like this!

usps live bird delay NEED ADVICE!

They may be vitamin-deficient. Do you have some Poultry Cell, Nutri-Drench, or some other poultry vitamins? If so, give them some every other day for a week or two. I say every other day because too much can cause diarrhea. To post a video, you can either post it on YouTube or in our...

Hen with scaly dry swollen skin on face

Hi, Pretty hen! Since she has no other symptoms, I think I'd go with it being scaly face mites, as they could be causing the swelling. They are microscopic, so you wouldn't see them. I would try putting vaseline or coconut oil on her face every other day for three times total. Then repeat...

Is frostbite avoidable without electric heating? Should I add heat to my coop?

Why we use horse bedding pellets. The humidity here is already high, add chickens breathing and pooping. Current humidity 74%. Coops are 64% and 68%.

Is frostbite avoidable without electric heating? Should I add heat to my coop?

Unless you're keeping them inside or in a heated coop, this stuff will also get cold/freeze and can make it worse. It's best to do nothing.
