Thanks Bruce I didn't exactly do a wire cage but did put them in an area that is on a ventilated bottom. No bedding. N kick them out during the day. I guess your wired cage is next.
Thank you
I tried the cool method that was suggested to me, Cooling their underneath in water for about 5-10 seconds But it hasn't worked and now not only do I have one broody but now I have 2. And sadly enough no eggs. When does it stop? I have no other ideas.
I too am unsure about this whole broody thing. I was asking because it has now been about 5 days and she isn't laying. Can that be detrimental to the hen?
I read through your post and will try this. However, why would a hen go broody n not lay. She hasn't laid any eggs for three days now. However she sits n sits n sits ruffled and all even when I remove her. I take her out to free range n all she does after about 15 min is look to go back in...
Can you ever really get rid of them? I just started to see them at dusk and I'm taking in feed and water. This is so gross and I'm concerned for their safety and my families as they bring disease. Is this normal when you have chickens. I've only had mine a year and this is a first for me
I understand it. Had neighbors complain. Really ?perhaps we should ban loud landscapers that by the way do everyone near me never at the same time
Next they will want to ban dogs.
how about cats that roam wherever they want.
People need to stop being chicken haters. Next thing they'll tell...
It's fresh high in vitamins. Just asking about canned foods. I would never have thought to feed them canned food. I stick with fresh veggies n such. Just surprised. That's all
Really Michael I had no idea. I sure hope they don't do that. I love listening to them but know my neighbors won't appreciate that. Especially because they could win that fight, since hens are all may area allows :(
I have another question. Is it unusual for roosters to crow after dark? I had one crowing last night. I checked things out and all was fine. It went on for about 10-15 mins.
