Sorry.. camera battery went dead.. but think I can describe pretty well..
Have a bantam hen.. body shape, size, pea comb, wing drop, and fanned tail.. is exactly like my sebrights..
except.. this one has fuzzy feet and legs.. even has long primary looking feathers extending from her...
I would agree.. not enough calcium.. maybe she doesnt like the shells?? In the think shelled eggs.. is the white exceptionally runny?
(ps .. grew up in parkersburg)
thanks for the info.. makes it easier than having to build 3+ separate runs.. I want to try and selectively breed.. so I need to make a "honeymooners" run/laying box so I know what eggs are what. A separate bachelor pad would be perfect if it works out. I suggested eating the extra...
Got some new chicks from the farm store this year. Seem to have some young roos in the mix. We are considering hatching some of our own eggs and maybe breeding some production crosses. My question is, if you are going to keep roosters for breeding but dont want them out in the general...

not sure where I read.. and cannot vouch for the suggestion... but it does sound like it has merit.
The author had said that with an aggressive roo, to try and swat or kick at it, is just reinforcing the instinct to fight. The author suggested instead to catch the roo and carry them tucked...
Plants all over.. not sure of what might be poison to a chicken.. most stuffs just starting to sprout around here and in the past they have steered clear of stuff they didnt like. what ever the two of them have been eating, all have had access to. Not intentionally feeding anything molded or...
2 dead hens, both production crosses that were obtained as adults, age unknown, last summer from a chicken "trader" who would get large numbers from Amish farms. These were our 'practice" chickens who have become pets. It has been extremely wet here and their run had become "soupy" to the point...
seems like one of my chickens are always a little sick.. one has a cough then it gets better.. one has noisy breathing.. rooster has an occasional cough.. periodically one hen or another has a droopy day or two.. one of them is laying wrinkly eggs.. and one of them having watery stools...
