Dosage for Terramycin Scours Tablets for adult hen?

Our oldest had a massive tumor growing under her wing. I suppose no animal escape cancer, right? As for dosing, all the literature I've read says 4 days. Do you do 7 days?

Dosage for Terramycin Scours Tablets for adult hen?

Thanks everyone. Turns out that just a few weeks ago she looked like she was waddling -- her abdomen was filled with fluid. We took her to a vet and they put her down: she had ascites and liver cancer. :-(

Dosage for Terramycin Scours Tablets for adult hen?

Thank you! I'm not sure this is now the answer. Her crop was full of liquid yesterday but didn't smell bad. This morning I vomited her and scratch came out at first. Then this thicker sludge, like tan mud! Perhaps this is a yeast infection in her crop??? Any ideas?

Dosage for Terramycin Scours Tablets for adult hen?

I can't for the life of me find any dosing for how much of the Scours Tablets to give to an adult hen. It says each tablet contains 250mg of oxytetracycline HCL. Can anyone help?

Flock with 6 Bumblefoot chickens. Why??? :-(

A lame Easter Egger with Bumblefoot led me to check all my chickens tonight -- 5 more have it (1 with a big one, the others just starting). What's going on? Is it because it was a pretty wet year and due to construction, we had lots of mud instead of grass? I'm trying not to freak out! ;-) I...

Comment by 'DownwardDog' in item 'Leghorn'

For those with friendlier Leghorns, are they White or Brown? I'm trying to figure out which to order from Cackle hatchery.

    Titan Incubator Automatic Door opener?

We have one which we bought early this summer. It only works 50-75% of the time:-( I'm currently trying to return it (I just sent an email to him after he asked for pictures of our set-up). It was easy to set up -- we bought the door as well and not so pleased with that -- I don't know which...

Tremetodes Yup The great wormer debate

I did not end up treating anyone. We are more aware of not letting them out when it's really wet outside, and they rarely hang out around our pond anymore. I did look at meds but like our vet said, the healthy ones will have systems that can handle a slight wormload and the weakest may die...

don't forget to lock up the coop for the night!

We have a two cameras inside the coop for when the chicks hatched. It gave up us peace of mind knowing we could watch them inside the coop, and then also when we integrated the chicks with the other adults. We could move the cams outside, but honestly, one would have to stare at the cams all the...

don't forget to lock up the coop for the night!

GOOD NEWS UPDATE!!! This morning, we found our three missing chicks emerging from UNDER the coop! They were chilly but alive! :-) Can't express how happy I am! Our coop is like Fort Knox, so when they are free- ranging, it kills me when I can't protect them. They mostly forage in the...

don't forget to lock up the coop for the night!

It was still daylight when this happened, and the flock would have been free-ranging outside. We've seen hawks, and have lost 2 chix in 2 years due to them (saw it happen). It looks just like previous hawk attacks but there were never any extras missing. I know we have coons around, I just...

don't forget to lock up the coop for the night!

Oh no! Well for us, tonight we were gone 2 hours (3-5pm) and the kids went out to do their coop chores and close them up for the night. My daughter noticed 4 of our 8-wk-olds missing. We quickly found one with no head/throat in the yard and lots of feathers all around him/her. 3 other...

Eggs hatching under 1st time broody -- came home to find first chick dead, away from hen/nest

Thanks! I suspect, after looking closely, it hatched prematurely. It looked full grown but its eyes were sealed shut, the yolk sac wasn't absorbed and there was blood veining all around the inside shell:-( I noticed one fluffy chick under her when I went back to visit, and I got to see one...

Eggs hatching under 1st time broody -- came home to find first chick dead, away from hen/nest

Might my broody have killed this chick? What do I do with the rest of them under her? There are 10 more -- I can hear one cheeping... Will she kill them or do I wait and see? So tough, this is our first hatch ever!

    Broody Hen Thread!

First time hatch: My broody Orp is sitting on 11 EE eggs -- Day 21 is next Monday! I have a few questions: 1. We were going to go away this weekend, but it's probably not a good idea, right? They might hatch on Day 18, 19, or 20 instead? 2. The broody and her eggs are separated from the...

First broody hatch started -- HELP!

I thought it would be more "nest like". We will move her into the brooder area of the coop tomorrow. She ended up dumping the bin today anyway, so I took it out and made a "nest" of shavings on the floor if it. She doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb, but hopefully she'll be a good mom. :-)

First broody hatch started -- HELP!

Our broody IEOrp is finally sitting on 12 fertilized eggs. I just moved her into a dog crate in the coop because she was off the nest and a SS was sitting there instead, laying an egg. I put shavings into a new, plastic dishwashing bucket, put the eggs into it and put the whole thing in the...
