I just cut their tops every month. They are cool looking, but they are the first to get caught by predators and easy picking for hawks. I eventually lost all 4 of mine to hawks.
Just got these chicks yesterday by mail order from ideal poultry. I noticed this chick wouldn't come out to eat or drink and upon further investigation, I noticed that it leans on one foot.
The foot/leg in question is only used as a prop by the knee/shin? He/she can move the leg fine, but...
Sounds familiar lol.
We live on 80 acres and are connected to 1000s, but I couldn't pay my dog to run off lol. She loves getting after the deer, but most of the time I just make her watch them as they cross the driveway.
She loves being outside, but for the most part, she's only outside when...
Lol
We taught her "easy" pretty early. She will not put her mouth on anything unless I give bite command. We also had the chicks in a brooder in the kitchen so she got to get used to them and see how gentle we were with them. She was thinking a lot about chicken nuggets though 🤣
Extremely high prey drive. But I haven't had a squirrel, raccoon, or any other critter in the yard for 2 years 🤣
There are times, I wish I had a lazier breed, but I wouldn't trade her for the world. They're truly an intelligent and unique breed. Never had such a special bond with a dog.
Thought this would be cool. Hope yall enjoy.
Included breeds are:
Old English game bantams
Silver laced Polish chickens
Light Brahma
Black Australorp
Silver laced Wyandotte
YouTube ain't for everyone, but it's great once you find your style of creators and its now many people's choice over cable. I used to scoff at it too, but it eventually grew on me.
I agree about both statements. I should have originally added overhang and I do plan to add extensions that...
I have 3 bantams. She/ he is half the size of her siblings. She is getting more active by the day. I'll see if my local TSC has some in stock. Overall I think it is going to be fine. Thanks for all the feedback
The other pic is with the Polish chic. The other is OEGB. The round thing is a decorative garden stone that I use to have the water sitting on. Now it's just used to give the runt a little boost to reach the food tray. I had the food tray out when I took the pic. It's what sits on those wooden...
Thanks for having me. New chicken daddy here to 3 Old English Game Bantams, 4 Silver laced Polish chickens, 1 Light Brahma, 1 SL Wyandotte and a black Australorp. Looking forward to learning and talkin' chickens with yall.
It's a 4x2x2 brooder with pine chips I built to keep inside. Half the top is hardware cloth, the other half is a hinged lid. The brooder is at about 92° in that corner. I'm not sure what I'm treating either, but I'm treating what I believe to be a respiratory infection. And trying to figure...
