Mine is slanted (with one end being at the lowest possible setting) and the 2 and 4 day old Runner Ducklings run out from under it and climb atop of it and go back under as they see fit ... I think your babies are 100% fine!
I have a second brooder setup with Chicks in it and they do the same...
Over the last 2-3 years, we've purchased Chicken, Duck, Goose and Quail eggs through EBay and have received those eggs via USPS, the only eggs we've had problems with during incubation were the ones that got delayed in transit and those that were poorly packaged thus got severely beat up during...
You’ll be checking on the progress of those eggs at least a million times between the time you get up until they are delivered, via the tracking number … longest ‘however many hours’ eeeeeverrrrrr 🤦🏻♀️😂😂
OMG, we can all relate to it!
My Grey Runner Duck eggs are arriving tomorrow as well …
We've been hatching eggs in different incubators for years ... quail eggs were very forgiving, whether they were shipped or from our own birds, they did very well in our first Styrofoam Incubator with a consistent 90% hatch rate for shipped eggs from a Seller in PA (kingshatchery2013)
We've...
Ask the clerk at your local feed store where they get their chicks from and whether you could order chicks from that hatchery via your local feed store ... our local feed store charges a small fee on top of the price the hatchery charges - worth a try
Here we are on December 29th Elza, Anna, Sven, Olaf and Kris
FOUND, literally found these two in the Coop yesterday afternoon ... one was ice-cold to the touch, the other was running around looking for his momma ... I found the abandoned nest (which I never know was there) with 3 ice-cold...
We
lost the lil Peep who was 'a little off' ... s/he was pretty much doing what everyone else was doing but s/he appeared to be mimicking their behavior rather then drinking because s/he was thirsty etc (if that makes sense) ...
Lil Peep fell asleep and just didn't wake up again 😥
Everyone...
I was awake before the Alarm clock went off at 0640am ... check the phone for missed calls from the post office - Nothing!
Check the Volume button on the phone - we good!
Check the Tracking Number via the USPS Mobile App - Your item is out for delivery on December 21st, 2022 at 6:41am ...
Ordered some Embden Geese from Metzer Farms today, to be shipped early March 2023 ... the phone rings this afternoon and it's Metzer Farms, asking whether I would like to receive my order of Embden Geese rather sooner then later ... how soon!? 'Well, we'd ship them out today' she says!
Heck yes...
Metzer Farm canceled my geese order on the day they were suppose to ship without any explanation ... I was reimbursed all the money but I really wanted those geese ... maybe I'll try one more time as I live in Louisiana and we'd be getting our birds from TN anyhow ... just don't know if I dare...
I’m assuming you are asking whether that there black contraption will work with the nipple drinker! … I installed the nipple waterer directly into some 5gal buckets and eventually a 20gal trashcan, you do not need that there thAng to install the waterers I referenced earlier in this thread but...
The ducks know how to drink via these nipples too … I must add though that the ducks expel quiet a bit of water which makes for some mud on the ground in front of the 20gal trashcan waterer … I plan on dumping some river rock just as soon as the summer heat passes!
The water I provide for the...
i love the feeders and my birds love them too ... installed 8 of these on a 20gal trash can and installed some with a slightly larger opening for my Jersey Giant and Bielefelder Roosters (their combs are so tall I was worried they might rub)
My Muscovy and Cayuga like using them too! I would...
Bought some Mandarin Duck eggs @ Pre-Auction on eBay in January, they arrived from Kentucky yesterday and went into the incubator this morning …
🫣 if all works out well, we are expecting baby Mandarin Ducks on/around May 19th … man, we are as excited as we are terrified … we do not doubt that...
Ayam Cemani (for example) are said to lay for a few weeks and then stop laying for a few weeks … I’d kept some as eye candy with the rest of my flock thus cannot honestly say that I observed that or maybe I missed it cause most of my hens lay brown eggs 🤷🏻♀️
We’ve recently discovered that the...
Only one week after we added a Muscovy Drake to our tiny Scovy duck flock in mid December, we collected some eggs for incubation to check for fertility which we were able to confirm!
We did not have a Drake prior thus are absolutely certain that these are his progeny!
We originally got the Muscovy ducks to run under our Quail pens to clean up whatever feed the quail spilled (quail are messy lil eaters) Our quail were of course fed a high protein game bird starter feed … the Muscovy ducklings liked it so we are feeding all our hatchlings (Duck or Chicken) that...
