Choosing which of two New Hampshire cocks is closer to the SOP

I have not weighed them yet no, but your assessment is pretty spot on. The main differences between the two is the first one has a much stockier body, and more appropriate comb. While the second one is a bit more lanky and well balanced, but has one too many serrations on his comb for my liking, lol

Choosing which of two New Hampshire cocks is closer to the SOP

Hey all, fair season is coming up for me, and I cant seem to decide which cock would be the better choice to take. Both are fairly even in my mind, hoping that more experienced eyes can tell me which one is closer to the standard, thanks :)

How long can a fertile egg sit?

I personally try not to keep mine for over a week, but from what I've read about two weeks should be the upper limit of storing them.

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey all, been inactive for a bit, but am here to let ya know that I have some very nice New Hampshire stock now. My profile pic is a example of one, so if anyone is interested in some hatching eggs shoot me a DM. I'm planning to hatch some in about a month, but after that I'm up for helping out...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Thanks @Leahs Mom, I never conclusively determined what was wrong with her. But a concussion seems like the most likely scenario. I don’t think it was mareks or another disease because 1. No other hens have showed any symptoms at all and 2. She didn’t seem to grow worse over the last week she...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Sadly I had to euthanize my hen earlier today, she had grown steadily worse over the past week. I suspect now that she had a severe concussion plus coccidiosis. Thanks so much for all of your support and advice.:)

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@pipdzipdnreadytogo she’s maybe doing a bit better this morning, I gave her two hot epsom salt baths yesterday. I’m beginning to think she might not be eggbound. I read they usually don’t make it past 48 hours if they don’t pass the egg, and it been more than 72.

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

No word yet, I’ve got her quarantined and am going to try the hot water method tomorrow to make sure she’s not eggbound.

    Oddly disabled young hen

Okay hopefully I can fit all the answers in. She’s a new hamp and is not a bantam just a bit smaller, I hatched her and 4 other chicks, she’s in a large coop with 8 others I bought before I hatched her. she’s fed layena regularly. No vaccinations. I treated the whole flock for coccidiosis when...
