That’s why I don’t want Boer goats. Too big for me. Plus. I have no reason for a meat goat. Really mine are just pets. And if I get milk. Great. If not, oh well. I’m planning to keep one of the kids from the girls. We just have to see who fits in best :)
Ohhhh, well that’s good. I don’t like giving shots either. I’m really glad she is ok..when I was reading how to help the situation...it looked pretty serious....glad you could get her to the vet!!
Very true....I look more at the cost per animal type of rational. I would’ve loved to taken Little Lou to the vet when he broke his leg...but, but to the fact that there aren’t many who deal with birds around here it would’ve cost a fortune. It wouldn’t have been fair to the rest of my farm...
You and me both...I suppose you don’t read a lot of the threads about the health issues...people are always going for expensive vet stuff.... some people pay to get their rooster made not able to crow anymore and it’s not always successful
she could take take aspirin 325 mg..base it on her weight, I believe...it’s actually 1 pill per every 10 lbs....here’s the link.. https://fiascofarm.com/goats/medications.htm.... it also has ibuprofen on there....the list also has other great info about goat health needs....vitamins,....I hope...
It’s always good to have support...I totally understand....not everyone is as attached to their farm animals...that’s how they see them...’farm’ animals. There are people on here paying out the wazoo for a chicken. My duck got his leg broke in December and I had to tube feed him 4 times a day...
Yeah...I got in major trouble last week for going out in the middle of the nigh5 without telling my hubby...8 didn’t want to wake him...boy was he mad!!
I totally understand...my very pregnant goat took a bad fall on her side today and it was pretty much my fault for shooing he4 out of my grain room. TRY not to focus on that tonight...do what you CAN change...keep her comfy, nice soft bedding, no grain, nice hay, clean water...maybe a banana or...
Well..we just bought a whole lot of tarps the other day at the dollar tree...no wash..just throw away....I hope you mom doesn’t find out...yikes!! My Dad would kill me! And I’m 46!
Can you take the goat today? That would be my decision maker. We have two ways of hauling...the back of an SUV...works at times. And we have a truck that has a dump truck bed with high sides. My hubby picks up garbage for our rental units. We plop on wood panels and can haul certain...
That would be perfect...I simply put in her symptoms to that website I showed in my post, and that was what it suggested...so, I hope you are right! Mine are off grain and eat alfalfa pellets and mixed grasses....but, I just put the symptoms in..sometimes the internet is no good for...
Ok, in the meantime..did you see my post? Perhaps you’d like to make some of the garlic , onion, vinegar, etc mixture....it might soothe her. Did you get her grain away?
