...are finally in the process of putting together the chicken coop!
Cinder blocks: four solid 4x8x16 blocks, one standard block - about $6 from Menards*

Flooring: new linoleum/vinyl (?) - free from friend...
Has anyone ever used a 55-gallon drum to build a chicken tractor? I saw a picture online of one used upright but there were no pics of the inside so I don't know how it was set up with nest boxes and such.
A drum is about 23" diameter so I was considering cutting off 5" of the side (from top to...
As I use eggs I just put the shells back into the carton. When the eggs are gone I put all the dry shells into a big mortar and grind them up. Of course, I don't have any chickens to feed them to yet, but I'm working on it!
This is not my video, my music, or my chicken, but this is hilarious! ...and I had to share it with you.
Got the roof on my chicken coop last weekend. Check out my page... All that for $120!
Have a great weekend!

Go Barbara! My grandma's name is Barbara and she's a fiesty one, too.
Thanks Rare Feathers. Rabbit cages sounds great. My FIL (who just lost all his bunnies in a fire ) had some cages with pull out trays in the bottom so I guess they could be stacked if I needed more than one and then the chickens wouldn't be pooping on one another.
Anyone else have a set up...
It was racoons, by the way, that ended up killing the chickens and chewing the wires. They found the charred bodies where the fire started.

I don't plan on having any fancy showin' chickens . Just regular ol' egg-laying chickens. I just want to have a spot for them if one decides she wants to hatch chicks, or if one is mean or getting picked on, or a place to put new chick(en)s to introduce them to the established flock.
I am considering building this feature into my chicken coop and would like to see pictures of yours, if you have one. Can I assume that the 4 ft-sq rule applies for the appropriate size? Thanks!
Thanks everyone. I just can't imagine what it would've been like for those poor bunnies locked in their cages and terrified... I can't even think about it.
I posted on CL to find out if there was anyone that could donate supplies for the homeless goats and ducks. Hopefully somone will come...
This clinic is in Australia, but they have products you can buy to be shipped to your home. There is a package for contraception (which I bought and am using) and one for conception. $159.95 AUD is approximately $117 USD. In regards to the contraception book, it's not like a doctor that says "do...
