Yes I have tried doing that for the hen that is bullying all the others. It did work but I feel bad putting Penny in there since she didn't do anything. I managed to get the peepers on Cinnamon so we are going to see how that works out. That you all so much for all of your responses.
Yes her feathers took an extra long time to grow. We talked to Meyer Hatchery and they said that she probably had a feather growing disorder. She is a Black Austrolorp. We have 7 chickens. Two black austrolorps, one New Hampshire Red, one Lavender Orpington, one Buff Orpington, and two Barred...
Hi its me again.
As I said a couple months ago, my hen, Penny is getting pick on way to much. its becoming a big problem and I'm afraid their going to kill her.
Two of my chickens "mount" on her basically every day. She gets pushed out of the way for food, water, and any snacks I might bring to...
I really don't want to give her away and definitely not cull her. I'm the type of person who doesn't what to let any animals go. I'm going to try to put the peepers on again this afternoon. But will the peepers stop her from breathing through her nose? She is under a year old and I'm afraid its...
I have a very large dog crate in their run that I put one of my chickens in named New Hampshire, because she was picking all of my other girls feathers. Would that work?
Hi it's me again.
My Black Australorp Penny Is getting picked on way to much. Her head is almost completely bald now and her butt also doesn't have a single feather on it. My Barred Rock chicken Feathers, is top of the pecking order and she doesn't take any nonsense. I have 7 chickens in total...
Thank you all for your responses. I have however tried the peppers but she filliped out and I was never able to get them onto her. Maybe I will try again.
She is a hen because she lays eggs and she doesn't crow. I have already tried to separate her before from the rest of the girls and that did help for the feather picking. But there only a year old. Can they switch genders now while there still young?
Hi.
I have had my chickens for almost a year now and my New Hampshire red chicken named New Hampshire started to pluck out all of my other girls feathers. That's mostly over now but she is actually now "mounting" only one of my other hens. Her name is Penny and her head is almost completely...
