Just talked to the lady I bought them from and they are Golden Laced Seabright and the feathered foot one is probably mixed with Silkie...lol
I could have swore she had Wyandottes..... oh well, it doesn't matter, they are adorable :)
Purchased 4 chicks from a person near me. She has Golden Laced Wyandotte bantams with black legs...? She also had black/blue Silkies... I'm not sure what I have now since they all have black legs and one has feathered feet and 6 toes on each foot!... here's a few pics:
Bad pic, but they...
cmhudson33- Have you tried Tractor Supply? They sell all different types of chicken feed as well as chicken health products. as far as organic or natural feed - it will take a lot of work on your part to make natural feed. Here's a few articles I found...
I go to the co op on 8th avenue in Glen Burnie. The man who owns it is very nice and I have been buying my feed from him since the beginning of my chicken raising. as far as predators... yes, there are fox around here too. I lost 3 hens to one 3 years ago. It was horrible. We moved the coop and...
I'm in Glen Burnie.. looking to add to my flock. Been raising chickens for 5 years and love it. It's nice to see others here in MD that have chicken fever too..lol
I'm definitely going to be there..making the trek from A.A County in MD :) Hopefully I will be able to find Carol as we are friends on FB, but have never met! Would love to see her and say hello.
Can't wait to see everyone! - Tammy
Thank you for replying. Shelly is still laying, but what you said about the youngbloods makes sense. Dot ( the oldest of the 2 Barred Rocks) must have an agenda to be the head hen! she seems to be a little more aggressive than the other BR.
My oldest and dominant hen, Shelly is suddenly being bullied. I have 9 hens in a very large ( 27 foot x 9 foot) run and a large coop. They are always fed, get treats, and lots of water. The 1 year old Barred rocks (2 of them) that I have are now bullying her. For the past 3 days, she hides in...
I would get her some company, even if just another hen her age. They'll have to be separated for a week or so but then they will be fine. Could you put up a fence and add another little place for a new hen to sleep for a week or so? If so, Gertie would probably like to have another hen to pal...
I really want to go! Don't know if hubby would want to though.... I have six 5 week olds out in their coop beside Three 2 year olds in another coop now! lol...
I have to agree with Fred's Hens.... We have a heavy duty extension cord plugged into out garage, the out into the run to use on the waterers out there. We use heat tape sold at Home Depot that wraps around the bucket and plugs in. Works great! No more frozen water out in the run....
I have 2 nipple waterers and my chickens drink from them, but if I let them out to free range, they also find puddles and anything else with water in it. In the summer I keep extra cat litter pans filled with cold water too. They'll drink from them and walk thru them to keep cool. It's a...
We bought 6 nipples from QC Supply and I can say that it was the bed money I ever spent! I am using 3 on each 5 gallon Lowes bucket and hubby has hooked them onto a big chain that then hangs from huge bolts off of the run ceiling supports. The chickens love them!
In the summer, I just freeze...
It will work. I had the same thing until a fox got 3 of my hens. They will choose which one to sleep in and that will be their coop. I had 5 in one and 1 in another...lol They shared the same run and coexisted together just fine.
