Great idea. I live in Texas. I will check that this morning. I have been dragging my feet on this. I clean their cage and our back porch as the girls love to come to the sliding door. I have seen no evidence other than what I was told why my one girl has a light colored/purplish hue to her comb...
Thank you! I was told in another post my Orphington could have worms because her comb is light on the ends. And that I need to work as maintenance. I have never seen worms
We're in South Texas. I have Dominique's, Buff Orphington's, New Hampshire Reds, a couple crazy Easter Eggers and an Austrolope. They did very well in the heat and cold. Cochins don't do well in the heat . We did have to add a couple fans around the cage in the dead of summer and a heat lamp...
We have 7 dusted and Permethrined both and sprayed perimeter and coop. I have 8 week old Pullets that should have been ready to go. I can't deliver them until I get a hold of this. I'm going to repeat again in 7 days. Do I need to do it again in another 7 or will they be under control by then...
I was hoping someone would have replied. We're in the same boat. We live in San Marcos and just figured out we don't have mites but stick fleas. We just dusted our girls with 7 dust and wiped permethrin around their faces. We also had to do their cage and surrounding area. Our girls are...
I asked the difference about the priority vs regular and for Tx it was still gonna be 2 days. What they forgot to put in my shipment was the heat bags. Glad your arrived in good shape.
Update: in total I lost 16. According to the hatchery they believe they were mishandled during shipping. I explained to them that several were unable to hold their heads up and wanted to be upside down. Out of the 40 we lost 16. The remaining 24 are thriving and eating us out of house and...
Thanks for all the suggestions. Our temperature is at 90 so were working on getting it up as suggested in a previous post. I also appreciate the cottage cheese suggestion. Off to the store we go
Were gonna put a thermometer to verify were at the temperature you recommended. The heat lamps are going and the cage is wrapped. Live and learn is my motto. I figured ordering 40 would help and the hatchery was supposed to put those heater packs under the straw which they didn't . I'm gonna...
This is my first time ordering this early in the season. The last go round they said I lost so many because of heat. They shipped on a Tues afternoon and we picked up on Thursday morning. Ugg so disgusted... I just lost another one
Help! I ordered 40 chicks. 7 were dead on arrival. I had 7 more die and 2 that I'm not sure are gonna make it. The 2 I'm referring too can't stand up and their heads are floppy. I have them wrapped right now to make sure they are warm . Our nursery in in the house so they warm and cozy. Is this...
Ps to my post... Are you by any chance near Driftwood and Austin? The lady that sold us infected chickens didn't bother to tell us her chickens were sick until ours got sick.
We tried to save 2 that didn't show symptoms and within a month one of the 2 had it. Buy from someone reputable . We...
