These are pictures I just took of her, she is now shaking. Is it the pain or was the water in her pool too cold? It's the same cold it usually is but today she couldn't climb out so I had to help her get out :-(
My 14 mo old Pekin duck started limping maybe 4 days ago. This morning I noticed there is swelling where the ankle joint connects to the foot and is pretty warm to the touch. I did see a tiny scrape on the bottom of her foot but nothing else. What can I do to help her aside from cleaning it and...

This was the second egg she laid today. She laid it in her pool. However her odd behavior continued. They have started mating, but since he is an appleyard and she's a pekin there is a little size difference that they are working through.
She is laying eggs, for about 10 days now. Her tail is pumping up and down. I have her and one other duck (drake). She's about 24 weeks old and isn't making any weird noises or flapping her wings, she's just pumping her tail area up and down like the handle on a well. I don't know how to post a...
safe to say its definitely a duck egg today!!!! i am so happy that she is laying finally, but sadly the chances of getting a Howard Jr are next to zero
I just want to make sure it's not a fluke of barely any color that my hens are trying to trick me with! But it was also in my ducks favorite corner of the coop, so that's another thing that makes me think it was hers :-)
One of these just don't belong? So we found this odd colored egg in my coop this morning and I am wondering.....could it be from my pekin baby? She is 22 weeks old and hasn't laid as of yet. All my chickens are brown egg layers.
Thank you everyone. I will put up a listing on Craigslist and see what happens. It is hard as even only a few months allowed my oldest son to bond with one of the BR cockerels. He will likely be sad but I don't need the disruption in the coop that could injure any of my laying hens.
So should I get rid of the barred rocks now even though they are only 9-10 weeks old? And how hard is it to home a rooster vs umm.....dinner?
ETA: Oh and how hard is it to rehome a rooster that is over a year old?
Plus I was told that I needed to have a rooster for every breed because one rooster won't protect anyone unless they are "his" breed/flock? Is this not true?
I do not like having to be reasonable when it comes to my chickens and ducks! It stinks a lot and makes me crabby lol. But sometimes we just have to huh?
Not all of mine are named but we have
Big Boy - RIR
Mocha - RIR
Cocoa - RIR
Henrietta - RIR
Kiwi - Barred Rock Rooster
Banana - Buff Orpington Hen
The last two were named by my 10 yr old and I because they were the runts and since that's a good candy we named them after that
We also have...
