I love to hear about the BSF. I would really like to get some some day.
Do you have a thread on BYC covering the BSF and ideas on attracting/housing them?
Screws will also hold better than staples or nails. If you make your own out of older, drier wood, you'll need to drill guide holes so the wood doesn't split. After I drill, I usually "round-out" the hole so the screw head doesn't cause a split either.
Maybe you can get or make some furring strips (1x2 strips of lumber) and screw them to your wood over the wire on the outside. Staples can either pull out or there will be so much pressure on the wire that the wire will just break at the staples.
Furring strips are fairly cheap and you...
If you have a lawn mower that throws clippings out to the side, you can gather your leaves in a pile against a wall or a fence and run over them with your lawn mower a few times. Just a suggestion.
I know a woman in Reno and she adds lots and lots of coffee grounds to her highly alkaline soil. She picks it up by the bucketful from coffee shops around town. Works wonders for her.
That's a good idea vehve. Three compartments. I don't have a lot of waste to be composted, except manure/shavings.
My area is so dry that enclosing it like yours might be the best solution to keep moisture in.
That is another project and won't even begin to see construction drawings until...
I wonder if you live near one of those salad places... "Fresh..." something or other. I would imagine they toss a lot of green stuff every day. Maybe you could arrange a pick up?
Not sure but I think maybe he (or somebody) was suggesting to plunge a piece of pipe or rebar into the center of your pile, pull it back out and then insert your thermothingamabob.
I watched this short video yesterday and it is absolutely amazing!
I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate something like this in my situation.
Have a look see:

Just finished reading from the first page up to my first post. This is pretty good stuff. If I can keep it from leaking out of my brain housing group I will be doing well.
Adventurousone... your name fits. I'm so glad you were able to get that pile going... despite objections. He'll likely...
