My geese all lay in March and April and the odd one in May. I've a feeling I might get eggs earlier than usual in 2020.
I don't mind if my females lay in January because the weather gets warmer in February and March.
Either way any eggs I get will be incubated and born in 2020 for the 2020...
No egg yet so far I know, my 6 month old female who never mated or had any interest has been mating with one of my 4 year old ganders the past week.
All geese are now active. I've never had this before may I just add!
Sold two of my smallest 2019 African goslings but I might get 5 new Brown African geese from the UK so fingers crossed!
New bloodline will come in handy
Yes it will thankfully, I only have ganders now with the Buff gene. Any normal brown ganders I had were sold this year.
All the ganders I now have including the male goslings from this year have Buff genes, so next year I will 100% have a few buff gozzies.
My geese are mating a lot now and my buff female and my brown male are an official couple.
Curious if I might get eggs in the end.
Also got 4 new guineafowl for my lonely guinea hen.
One purple, 2 lavender and one pure white. They're settling in nicely. Got 1 male and 4 females now.

Yeah I was lucky to have it! When I moved from the Netherlands to Ireland we had to use a container which 17 years later still stands on the same spot haha.
It's 12 meters long and 4 meters wide. 8 meters for the geese and other poultry and 4 meters for hay and straw. Very strong, wind proof...
Update on the youngsters! I sold two adult ganders and one of my females from this year. I now have 2 adult males, 2 adult buff females, 3 young males and 2 young females from this year. Haven't lost a goose this year which is a success! My emus chase away anything usual in my fields which has...
I do hope for eggs but the female doesn't seem to nest or anything but you never know.
I don't expect anything from my goslings. I just wonder why they decide to get active so early.
The weather has been nicer than our usual Octobers. My goslings are fast maturing this year I guess!
I...
Storm in the end wasn't too bad thank goodness. Only minor damage.
Now my geese are in mating mode once again!
My 3 year old gander was mating with my 5 month old female.
My 3 5 month old ganders are doing mating signals constantly while my 3 year old female is mating too.
I don't expect...
Hurricane Lorenzo which will be a tropical storm as it reaches Ireland is hitting us tomorrow! Animals are locked in for the storm.
Wish me luck that I won't get any serious damage ✌
Funny enough from those photos I still have one gander from my past 119 goose flock.
The African geese I currently have weren't even born yet but the parents are in those photos :D
With work etc. I basically had no time anymore so I decided to still keep geese and stick to African geese.
I sold most of my 119 geese that spring. I wonder at times how most are doing. I knew nearly all my geese personalities off by heart
Hardest thing so far was selling them hoping the...
