Hello, so I found this predator poop today in my old chicken coop. I haven't seen anything on the security cameras near where my chickens currently stay, but I'm definitely curious what animal this is from. Located in southern Virginia
Yes I totally agree. Wouldn't be so upset if he just ate one! I just put cinnamon around the coop. Hopefully that helps, and that is good to know. I ran up to him and beat him with a flip flop last night lol
That must have been Awful. Yea this one couldn't eat them it seems like, he was just killing them. Thank you for that info. I am keeping them in a fort Knox brooder for the next month at least, but will allow them to explore while I'm around.
Thank you, I'm sorry for your loss too. I am very surprised it would go after an 11 week old as well! I hope you can get him. I was able to get mine thankfully, but I'm sure there are more around
Heartbroken to say the least. I had an alert at around 11pm yesterday of motion in my coop. I run over and 3 of my chicks are dead! A black snake killed them. I am feeling very guilty, as I just moved them out of their smaller brooder wrapped in hardware cloth into a dog cage. My coop is over 50...
Yes I know it's early 😩 don't have enough hens to keep a second rooster, but this one is my favorite so I'm trying to prepare myself in case I have to eat him. 🥲
Please help w/ sexing my Aussie.
Reasons I think it's a roo-
Largish comb
Confident
Reasons I think it's a hen-
Feathered in pretty quickly, but I have none of the same breed to compare. These were the best pics I could get. Any guesses are welcome. Thanks
Yes I regret doing this. I handle each poult for an hour until they are about 6 weeks old. This is the second tom I've kept that has turned out aggressive. I always give him hugs so he must know what's up with me, lol. Should I tell my mom to hug him? I don't want to get rid of him so I'm going...
This doesn't seem like he wants to mate her, right? He rushes her and flies at her face. There's two more of us living here, both males, and we have no issues. I'm wondering if it's because she's always been scared of the male turkeys so she kinda fast walks away from him whenever he's near?
My tom is about 7 months old, and he keeps chasing and flying up at my mom. It just started about 2 weeks ago. I am at a loss of what to do. Any tips on correcting this behavior? He needs more hens but I just bought 1 and will look for another 2 adults. Adult hens are hard to find here for under $60
My new hen is a royal palm. I've only ever owned narragansetts before. Come to think of it, my previous hen went broody in December 2020 and went broody again this spring around April. Sadly she never got to hatch her babies 😔
