I’ve got 4 silkies that I still can’t tell gender on…the combs look like 3 girls and a boy, the tails 2 girls and 2 boys, the head pouf all boys..I can’t tell! Help!
That’s the only one that has female attitude but also the only one with rapidly growing wattles. I wasn’t sure if that was the same as rapid comb growth seen mostly in males or not
Toddler proof locks-I’ll get those installed for sure. Will my girls still be able to free range in the day? Raccoons and foxes are usually just out at night right? I’m usually home all day too
I plan on attaching more chicken wire/ metal netting to the bottom and burying it (if that makes sense) so they can’t dig under. And then cinder blocks on top of that around the base. I need to attach locks to the pink coop so I can lock it at night. Should I put a light in there at night? I...
I just switched my set up to accommodate more birds (currently have 3 adults but 4 juveniles and 4 babies in the brooder). I had a large horse wire fence very predator proof cage that I took apart. Now I have a 10X10 chain link fence with a tarp zip tied to the top (it’s not fully tied at the...
4 week old silkies. 1 partridge, 1 buff, 2 white. Saw an article on U shaped combs vs V shaped combs to tell the gender (boy-U, girl-V) and it makes me wonder if you can tell earlier bc my chicks have very clear U and Vs at this age 🤷🏼♀️ might as well guess as we wait 😝
What color are these? They’re supposedly 2 week old silkies and I thought they’d be white and buff but I’m new to chickens and their feathers are coming in different than I expected I guess 🤷🏼♀️ tsc bantam straight runs with feathered feet and extra toes. I think the black on the first one is...
Does where the comb start show gender for Cochins? I read on one post if the comb starts above the nostril, it’s a boy but if it starts behind, it’s a girl. My black frizzle is getting a comb pretty fast and has cockerel attitude so I’m thinking boy for that one at least
I posted their pics for gender guesses but it’s probably still too early.

I have 3 French (American) bresse hens that I bought as juveniles and enjoyed having so this year I jumped into chicks from tsc. Tsc makes you buy at least 4 so I got 1 cream legbar pullet (to be sure I got at least one female) and 3 feather footed bantams hoping for a silkie. My chicks are a...
First time having baby chicks, I got 3 random furry feet bantams hoping they were silkies but they all have 4 toes so clearly not lol. Wondering what breeds they are and maybe genders? Obviously nothing is certain til they’re grown but the guessing and watching is part of the fun. I *think* I’ve...
