Oh and I meant to say also not expensive. $15 a bird. I got mine last August and they were laying by late fall, but he may well have laying hens for sale as well. I don't think he sells his little chicks.
If you're not too worried about purebred Marans there's a man south of Cambridge that sells Maran mix pullets that are very nice and lay the dark brown eggs.

AM! Saturday morning brunch at Kathy's restaurant at Peter's Corners, the junction of highway 8, 5 and 52, just north of Dundas, just south of Rockton.
Peter's Corners is called that because it used to be a very complicated intersection of three highways, but now is a great roundabout. I hope lots of BYC folks can make it to Kathy's Restaurant for 11:00 am brunch on Saturday May 24th! It will be nice to chat in person for a change and connect...
