We got a few chickens from a woman who had them in horrible living conditions a few days ago. Severely underweight, no access to clean water, or food, for that matter, beak issues, and one has bumblefoot on both feet.
One of the girls I thought was purring (I've heard of it before) the first...
My advice may be unrelated, but one of my 4mo EE got hit by some (small but hard) falling debris, and she was doing the same thing with her one eye, and was making funny noises... she ran away and stood facing a tree and then refused to move. Really scared me.
We brought her in overnight for...
I used a low VOC white for cleaning purposes. When I was looking at paint, I did see a brand at Lowes that said something along the lines of safe for animals or barn paint. But low or VOC free is fine.
My compost takes longer than 3 weeks, but this is my first year with chickens.
I have mine outside the run, but that's because we mow over an acre and the grass clippings alone would take up half their run.... we put some grass clippings in their run for them to dig through, since it had...

My SLW is now 9ish weeks old. I know nothing about her, how old she is exactly, if she came from a farm or a hatchery, etc etc.
Her coloring is all over the place, and she's had wattles since 4 weeks.
I've pushed, poked, prodded on her... I don't see or feel anything obvious, and she doesn't act like she's in pain.
I was hoping it was just a weaker muscle from vitamin deficiency, but she's not overly cooperative and I feel confinement to the house with us is too stressful for her. Maybe...
They're in our fenced in yard, which isn't large. They don't have access to our acreage, currently, but I know she just wants to keep up with the other ducks.
Trying to upload a video now.
I don't have the vitamin in front of me, so I don't know the exact dosage. I can't give her anything...
Two of our ducks came from a "farm." I use that term loosely, as the lady was basically an animal hoarder and just had land and buildings for all of her animals to roam.
When we got the ducks from her, I didn't see fresh food or water, and figured we would he giving them a better home. We...
I have 8 week? old ducklings. Not sure exactly how old they are. Two came from a farm (no idea what they ate, as all I saw was mud), and one came with a chicken, and chicken food. I put all of them on the chicken food, with a vitamin supplement.
I haven't been able to integrate the chicken...
Now that I blow up the picture, I see the redness. Yesterday it was mucous-like, watery, then just seemed like a bit of diarrhea this morning. I asked my boyfriend to pick up some amprolium from TSC on his way home. Thanks!
She seems to have a lot more energy tonight, but it doesn't look like she ate anything. Her crop was empty this morning, and right now, it's a little squishy.
No sour smell coming from her beak/mouth. No bloody poop.
Update:
This morning, she is more responsive, ate a little yogurt and banana, and some drank some pedialyte. She seems to be pooping, but it's not as solid as normal.
I am keeping her in the house today in case it was from the heat, and am going to give the other girls some electrolytes and...
I got home from work, and my boyfriend had just let the chickens out of their run to roam the yard. They are in their coop/run during the day, and out in the yard when we're home, as they like to wander into the street.
He said one of the girls was acting funny... that she was kind of drooping...
ETA: 2 of my 3 ducks were from a farm, and live in our fenced in back yard, so I don't concern myself with making sure they get in their house. It's there, and if they want to go in, they will, but they like laying under the rose bushes. I'm not much help there, sorry. Good luck!
