Mt hen has a bad case of lice and she is unable to dust bathe and preen by herself because she has been injured, can I use human lice shampoo on her to get rid of them?
It has only gotten this bad over the last few days, I really don't want to put her down but it's so sad to watch her struggle. I will wait a bit before deciding. Thank you for answering
One of my hens has just started doing this too, its very sad to watch her struggle, I have checked for bumblefoot and have not seen anything. I'm going to keep watching this thread for suggestions.
Any help is appreciated. I had a very nasty roo who picked on this one hen and she had seemed to have mostly recovered from it but now after we have gotten rid of the roo she is acting as if she has had a stroke. She is eating and drinking alright but she can't walk, everytime she tries to stand...
I have recently discovered glass in someones poop in my coop, I wasn't sure who it was but I have an idea now. One of my hens is acting very lethargic and has her feathers poofed out. She has been eating and drinking alright but when I felt her crop I felt an odd shaped something in her crop and...
Thank you everyone I had a feeling that the girl I talked to on the phone at buckerfields didn't quite know what she was talking about (She suggested a de-wormer that I already have) so I will go in myself and see if I can find it. In the mean time I will give them the chick some milk to try and...
I think one of my chicks has coccidiosis and I have called all the feed/vet/farm stores in my area and NOWHERE sells Corid or any other medications to treat coccidiosis is there anything I can do from home to treat it? Will the chick eventually die if not treated? What do I do? Please Help!!!!
I'm not sure who I would choose, I like the silkie he's very pretty. But I will say this, my rooster is an *******.... choose wisely and make sure he knows who is boss :barnie
That's the name I was thinking of :he I kept thinking Landscaping Fabric but then I was like noo that's not right either. But yes that's what I used :P It does work quite well, we have lots of coons in our area but haven't lost any birds yet :D Are you sure your door is secured really well? I...
So sorry for your loss :( Sounds like maybe a snake? could have gotten in depending on where you live, or even a coon can reach through 1 inch wire and grab chicks and chickens, they are VERY smart and crafty. On my coop we used wire that has really small holes, like barely big enough to get the...
No not that I've noticed, I will check tomorrow morning. What are some treatments for her if it is a respiratory problem? Preferably not going to the vet. :/
A certain type of mareks can cause swollen feather follicles and will also cause them to stop eating and drinking, would you say this could be a possibility?
