No I'm not talking about the line from the movie, Pet Cemetary. LOL
Seriously, I have many chickens and a few ducks and I want to know what I can SAFELY put on the ground to get the sour out of it from all their poop.
We're lucky to have very sandy soil here so it drains and dries well but...
I spent four days gathering the eggs I want to hatch in my bator.
I set it last night and put everyone in but today I noticed that the heat wasn't coming up. The heat tube is not working. I left them in the bator with the turner and am attempting to order a new one.
Should I scrap this set...
Hey. I'm in SC where are you located hon? I don't buy my eggs far from home. I seem to have better luck that way. I'm interested in what you have. How many do you have to offer?? Thanks!
Thanks hon! You know, before refrigeration they use to sit on the counter. :) I'll go ahead and eat 'em. LOL If they were bad I'd think they'd build up gas and float.
You did an awesome job. And let's face it... the chickens could care less. In fact, the little ingrates will either poop on it or attempt to dig it up. LOL I give you a two thumbs up girlie!!
I wasn't able to gather for about 4 days due to weather and not feeling well. Needless to say I had a bumper crop of eggs when I gathered.
I did the float test assuming that I'd know the "goodies" from the "bombs". Turns out they all lay sideways in the water.
They lay in a coop that is covered...
Ooooh noooo! LOL Thank goodness we don't celebrate Easter with eggs and such. We did when I was little and I can just see myself wanting to "keep" my found treasures. Hahahahaha. I'll have to ask my Momma how she managed to keep from finding stink bombs two weeks after Easter. ROFL!!! Just the...
FOUND IT!
The first round of sniffing last week yeilded nothing. So, I decided to try again. I just couldn't shake the thought of expolded stinky all in my new bator. Yup, DEFINATLEY was ONE egg making all that stank! I chucked it outside and it exploded like a grenade! LOL
ETA: I...

See, these aren't that old. I mean, anything can go off and stink like the dickens but this is just... funky. I'm guessing that the muck that they were laid in is rehydrated by the humidity and is giving it that funky odor. I've sniffed eggs and I don't smell any one in particular that is rank...
When you open your bator does it smell?? I'm only on day 7 but have had to check the eggs earlier. The smell is rank. Not overpowering but .. ewwww.
I'm thinking it's cuz they're "duck" eggs and ducks are notorious for laying their eggs in any ole place. (hence how dirty they are) And that is...
