I hatched three Hmong eggs and got three little boys (lucky me!). I’d like to find two of them good homes and I’m wondering if I should get them tested for the fibro gene as a way to get them into homes faster). Is it worth it? I know zero about genetics, have done some research online but is...
Tinted eggs? They lay a mint green, one with speckles (I’ll try and find a pic next). I don’t have any great pics of the birds but the splash is first pic lowest right and the grey is second pic lowest right. They’re very good birds (no drama) and are solid layers.
Want to confirm this is ok to give to laying hens (with egg w/d) for tapeworms? I read some threads that said it’s ok and then the warning on the bottle says not for eggs or meat.
I have three black Hmong cockerels looking for their own ladies. Hatched them from Sugarfeather Farms.
Hatched July 4, healthy, not integrated with other flocks, no vaccinations. Not for food (unless they grow up mean, but there no indication they will) or fighting. Free range, farm life, or...
I’m 95% certain this is a roo. His comb came up early but hasn’t gotten any bigger, and no attempt at crowing. Then the color on his wings started. But, the other roo started crowing a good month ago so maybe I still have hope.
What % cockerel do you give him? He’s a mutt. Dad was an OE and mom...
I raised these two buttheads from their first second of life. Hatched them. Tended to their every want and need. Cleaned their brooder out multiple times a day, fed them, held them, gave them treats, took them to the sink to swim, etc etc. Was never rough, loud, or mean to them.
And yet a few...
I had two chicks with two ducklings for 2 1/2 months. It wasn’t ideal to have them together in the first place but here we are.
I finally separated them today and the ducks - especially the female - is beside herself. Quacking all day, just staring at the chicken run. The male is also upset...
New to ducks with two that are about two months old. The female is losing a bunch of breast feathers. The male isn’t, and she isn’t losing them anywhere but her breast - they’re all the same small fluffy feathers. Is this normal or should I be looking for parasites? Don’t see anything obvious.
I’m going to separate the ducks and chickens, but do Roos and Drakes compete if nearby? There is probably ten feet between the chicken run and duck run. I really don’t want more ducks so I'm tempted to try the 1:1 and if there are issues, I can remedy with more hen ducks.
On a whim, I hatched two duck eggs from the local farm that we bought for baking. They came refrigerated - I didn’t think they’d do anything, but I had a broody hen and the rest is history.
Once the eggs started developing and I got to “what am I going to do with ducks?” I figured I’d get two...
I’m treating my flock with Equimax for tapeworms. Normally I dry their shells and feed back to them - I know there’s an egg w/d after treatment but does it also apply to the shell?
I hatched a few from sugar feather too - my one guy (I think it’s a boy) looks a lot like the chick in your original post! It is so active that I have to video and then screen shot - can’t get a still shot. When they hatched, it was tearing around the incubator like a quail - it’s a crazy chick...
