I've been doing some reading and my guess is she probably has this condition that everybody is calling water belly. I don't see any signs of pain or labor breathing but she's lethargic and separating herself. so is there any chance of this actually getting better. I read several people talking...
I've never had a hen do this but I have a hen who behind the legs the lower abdomen headed towards the tail is swollen full and it's squishy like it's filled with water.
Any ideas or suggestions?
thank you. yeah I'm sad when anything dies and of course it had to be one of my Blue copper marans, and a young one. really frustrating cuz I'm having trouble getting chicks hatched
I don't see anything when I look in her big and it's not truly a wheeze it's like she's opening her mouth and trying to breathe and there's a little squeaky type of sound and she sticks her tongue up a little bit and like gas for air and then you know causes are being a repeat. I went ahead and...
I tried to attach a video, but it won't let me. she kind of makes this money weezy sound is she opens her mouth her tongue moves a little bit it's like she fully extends trying to get something out and then she closes her mouth and then repeats
Nissan today has started this weird wheezing gas they've been out free-ranging today since it's a weekend. I don't know if it's more something ill or something swallowed.
Well I tried to take a picture on the roost last night but you can't really see it well enough with the bird not up and going I will try to figure something out this evening. I've had a bit of trouble getting a picture this week because I can't get home before dark
I have a hen that has like a mass on the side of her neck. It is under the feathers and doesn't appear to be a wound of any kind and it's somewhere between the size of a golf ball and a tennis ball. Does anyone know what this might be it's on actually two and one is struggling to walk and stay...
Okay I could use some more laughs. After spending my vacation week prepping and building stuff for winter. Gee what did you do for vacation? Animal chores *sigh*
Warning graphic photos!
I took pictures of her backed up a little bit so it wasn't so abstract and then I took pictures of the mass I pulled out and what it looks like after I cut it open.
I will check her when I get home and take a picture again. I honestly don't think it's a prolapse or an egg on the outside anyway the vent seems normal but this mass is below it and much bigger than an egg.
I guess in my attempt to do a close up it does look more like an abstract. I will do my best to give you what information I can but my chickens are just farm animals and so I have a limited knowledge base on them individually. Anyway I noticed Sunday afternoon when I let them out for a little...
That's great information, but I don't think that's what's going on because nothing is actually coming out of her vent it's below at the base and back of her body and it's hard and of course all the skin around it is real red at this point. At least it was last night I'm not sure she survived the...
I checked in the vent tried putting her in some warm water and gave her some lube but I don't feel any egg but there's a huge hard Mass bigger than my fist at the back of her
