I have a dogkennel with small coops now, but we are upgrading to 1 big coop. The problem is connecting the new coop to the dogkennel that they use for a run, do I cut a hole in the kennel where the chicken door opens. I also bought two fence panels that I was going to place at the chicken door...
ok this may not be what your looking for but for my bantams spring/summer pen I have a little coop with 9foot dogkennel surrounding it this is a pic of my standard chicken coopngl it kinda looks like a jail outside area but from far away the dogkennel looks invisible
Here is a thread specifically for converting a dogkennel to a secure coop and run https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/dog-kennel-coop-how-to-make-door-area-predator-proof.590043/
Hello everyone!
I'm looking to upgrade my 4 silkie girls' run. I came across chain link fences. More specifically, chain link dogkennels.
1) Any recommendations for chain link dogkennels? (Links/websites would be very helpful)
2) What should I do about the open top? Any ideas for covering...
...omlet cube and 6ft run for 6 hens. Any ideas on how to rig the omlet run to a larger walk-in run? I was thinking of just getting a covered dogkennel to use as a walk-in run and adding HWC for reinforcement against predators. I think it would be cheaper than getting the walk-in run from omlet...
That's what I use for a Run, a dogkennel. But I'm aware that it's not at all predator proof. So I locked them up in my barn like coop at night that nothing, not even a mouse can get in.
Buy the largest enclosed dogkennel you can find. How many chickens are you expecting to keep? If you are using chicken math, 9+9=18 chickens. I have aerial predators (eagles, hawks, owls, falcons), my run (enclosed dogkennel) has kept my girls safe. Where are you located? I want to warn you of...
Most successful way I've done it that I liked the best was all my breeding males year round have their own chain-link dogkennel with a small shelter (medium to large dog crate works great), when it's breeding season I simply add one or two hens depending on what mating I want to do.
Hi Backyard Chicken Tenders!
We're looking at purchasing new property and it has a kennel with a small dog run that leads into a larger fenced in run that we think would be perfect for our chickens. I'm brainstorming what we would need to do in order to get our flock set up. Right now, we'll...
...let the dogs roam the neighborhood. After yrs of catching their dogs and taking them home (and feeding them) my brother finally put up some dogkennels and started keeping them at his house when he caught them running loose instead of returning them. One by one the neighbors abandoned every...
We offered the same so our neighbors dogs wouldn't keep getting loose but they let them out so we bought kennels and just held the dogs until they come to get them. They waited weeks at a time hoping we'd get tired of feeding them.We didn't. We still have all 4
.../ set ups! I’m not great at building things, so the simpler, the better. I’d also like to stay under $500, if possible!
I was planning to get a dogkennel, adding a roof, and then having a coop inside!
There are *lots* of predators around, so please feel free to add any predator proofing...
I've seen this and I'd get it. I have a large dogkennel/run and I love it. If I needed to increase, I'd get the one you're looking at. I really like the gate. But I'm not obsessed with having a predator proof run, just a predator proof coop/barn. This sits inside of a fenced 1 acre but of...
You may have to attach a wood door frame to the kennel gate to close the gaps .That would definitely improve the security of the run if you're interested. The lessor weasel is very small in comparison to a regular weasel...
