My 2 blue swedish hens have most always given me an egg a day each. Last week they each gave me a soft egg, they have not laid since then. They do get oyster shell. Anyone else have this problem.
The chick in the shell has been stalled for 24 hours. It just made a hole smaller than a dime, no zipping. What I can see of the chick is dry. The hatched one cannot right itself when it falls over and tends to lifts it's head straight up like a baby bird waiting to be fed. I have never seen...
That's awesome. Thank you, it is the umbilical. Seems to be feeling great chirping a lot and trying to peck around. Hopefully tomorrow he oops (being optimistic) she will have better balance.
Ok, got the chick out it's doing much better but it looks like it's butt is prolapsed. Has anyone every heard of this and is it reversible? Thanks to everyone for helping.
I have a hatched chick in the bator that needs help, he hatched around midnight last night. He is very lethargic, can't stand up, and isn't peeping. I need to get him out but there is also a pipped egg in there that hasn't really made progress since last night. It seems to be pipped kind of low...
I thought we had lost our guinea hen about 5 days ago. We found her today sitting on a nest under the tomatoes plants. Should we build an enclosure around her and leave her be or is it safe in try to incubate them now. Not sure haw many days she has been sitting. I would say 4-7 days and I know...

Still new to chickens and not sure what this is. I have 2 of them, the pics are of 1 bird but the other one looks just the same. A friend said Speckled Sussex...
If you decide to take this one make sure to post some pics! Good luck, we went through this a couple of years ago. Luckily the bank paid us to move, but we sure did love it there.
I honestly don't know, but a friend of mine has a Leghorn Bantam and he is the same way. He likes to lay on his back in your arms like a baby and get rocked to sleep. He also climbs on shoulders and rides around...he begs to be held. It's the cutest thing! we got some eggs from his "wife"...
Just to let everyone know, there is an ad on Knoxville Craigslist for 21 free egg cartons. They are located in Seymour. A bit far for me but maybe some of you in Maryville or Sevier Co. could get them
