Pony For Daughter--Update Page 8. Great First Year Together

I personally would stay as far away from ponys as I can. I would look for a retired ranch horse or similar. My 7yo daughter rides my horse who is 16 hands and bout 17 years old. She also rides and trots by herself. My wife is 4'11 and can get on him by herself.

UGH & UGH a craigslist ad

Ummmm....maybe it was the childs responsibility to feed and take care of the animal and the child is not? Why not rehome it instead of letting it starve? My kids have to get up in the morning and feed the dogs, then on the way to school we stop and feed the chickens and the horses. They know...

    horse buying question

IMO $1000 is too much for a horse with problems. I purchased my last horse through a horse trader friend of mine for $750. He is 18 with no problems....and is very kid friendly. BTW...he is 16 hands tall and my 7yo has him trotting by herself. I would keep looking.

Riders: Kind of western event you ride in, and how you use your spurs?

I have a set of spurs....used them once this year maybe. I have seen too many things go wrong with people who dont know how to use spurs. You are supposed to roll the rowel along the horse....not kick him with your heel. I will probably be using them tommorrow on my wifes horse who has decided...
