    Would clipping her wings help?

Our coop and pen are reenforced. That's why I am worrying about her getting out.

    Would clipping her wings help?

It is 90% covered with shade cloth. It is stretched across the middle with ropes. Only the edges are open. Our run is 20x20 with a planned expansion this Spring.

    Would clipping her wings help?

I have this little bantam and she keeps flying out of the run. I find her in the yard or the tree. All my other hens stay put! This is my first bantam. She came in the the Meyer Hatchery Late Hatchers special. Would clipping her wings help? I worry about predators getting her and the fact...

I looked it up and you are so right! Thank you!

    Mohawk chicken?

We received the mixed late hatchers special from Meyer Hatchery. They hatched 9-2-14. I'm trying to figure out what breeds we have and this one has me stumped. It has a mohawk!

What Rabbits Do You Have? Show Off Your Rabbits Here!

At a week old it is super hard to tell! Their parts are so tiny. I still struggle at 4-6 weeks.

What Rabbits Do You Have? Show Off Your Rabbits Here!

That is a huge amount of food! Are you sure he's not just spilling it out? Our rabbits get a coffee cup full of pellets in their bowl and it takes them about 2 days to eat it. They also get a pile of forage and as much hay as they want.

    Chick with curled toes?

No, not really. These were really severe. This one ended up being a rooster and was picked on unmercifully. We ended up processing him (had 6 roosters in that batch of chicks).

    Hens stuck in molt

I still have hens stuck in molt and of course that means egg production is low. What are ways I can help? I've looked for Nutrena Feather Fixer, but I live in a small town and only have one feed store and Tractor Supply and neither carry any. Any other thoughts? My one RIR's breast looks so...

    Baby Bunny advice? Fostering?

It was supposed to be a chilly night so I dabbed some vanilla on my experienced mom's nose (which she didn't like!) and took the two largest of the new mom's litter and put them with the single kit. They snuggled right up and the mom checked them and sniffed them but seemed fine. That was a...

Best dog around chickens and children?

We recently got a 5 month old lab mix puppy from the Humane Society and it's going great. He's good with the kids (ages 7, 4 and 10 months) and has shown no aggression with the chickens. I am working with him.

    Baby Bunny advice? Fostering?

We had one experienced doe kindle 2 kits on 10/16/13 and a first time mom kindle 7 kits on 10/17/13. The first time mom lost one on our first frost night so we are down to six for her. They all look good, but there is a bit of disparity in sizes. Two are are smaller then the others. They...

What Rabbits Do You Have? Show Off Your Rabbits Here!

When we first started raising rabbits an old friend of my mom's who grew up in Texas told us we needed to put tuna cans filled with motor oil underneath the legs of all the hutches so the ants didn't get the baby rabbits. We don't have an ant problem like that in North Carolina, but that might...

    Newbie meat Rabbit breed selection?

Rex (also known as Standard Rex to differentiate them from mini rex) are also good meat rabbits. Or you could look for New Zealand Reds or New Zealand Blacks. I have a couple New Zealand Broken Blacks that have been good for me. You can also look into the Heritage breeds like American...

    Our new puppy.

I could see that! He's a big boy. He has his puppy exuberance, but a calm nature. I think he will be a calm, laid back adult dog. He is interested in the chickens, but doesn't lunge at them so I think he will get used to them quickly.

    Our new puppy.

We rescued a 5 month old lab mix from the Humane Society this weekend. Sweetest guy ever!

    Quinn is changing...

With the green legs and face tufts I would say Easter Egger mixed with something else. He is handsome!
