All through winter, my 8 egg layers laid 6-8 eggs a day total. These past few days we've gotten 4, 4, and 5 eggs. I'm in wisconsin, so its not like its really hot or anything. Does anybody know why my less than one year old layers slowed down when they would usually be producing like crazy?
WOW!
thats so awesome!
I thought i felt special when i had two double yolkers in a row this morning for breakfast...i would LOVE to have a quad yolker!!!!!
sorry for the hijack-
but can you house chickens and ducks together? I have a 8 chickens and i would love to get some ducks again...
and if you let your chickens free range, will the ducks just leave? do they have the "homing" instinct that chickens have?
Lol, well we only have 8 pullets.. And so I have a pretty good idea I think... Mine haven't sung at all. I wish they would!
I cannot wait until I have enough for a meal!!! Evenbetter, I can't wait for when 2 is my normal meal from these eggs! How long does ittake them to get the plumbing up and...
...work after school so I just went straight to work. On my first day of getting eggs I GOT TWO!!!! I'm so esctatic!!! I came home 8:30 pm to find two *hard shelled* eggs laid perfectly in the nest box! Yay!!! They are definitely smaller than a store bought egg, but not tiny :p
I would post...
They dont get to free range very often, so there's no stash anywhere. And I have checked every single nook and cranny of that coop andrun... Anybody have an idea of *how many* days?
Ok so I have 8 sexlinks, which about 5 have been squatting for almost a week and a half... I haven't heard the egg song yet tho. Btw, all of my pullets are 17 weeks old. Everybody says they'll lay soon, but with the info given, how many days or weeks do u think I have to wait?
I'm an obsessive...
I have about 4 out of 8 doing the "wing thing"!!!
I'm hoping that within days i get some. What a nice labor day present that would make, don't you think?!
fay-does your solar floodlight have a timer on it so it can turn on a like 4 am or whatever it should be to have 14 hours of daylight? I think it would be awesome to have a solar powered chicken coop (IF THERE WAS A TIMER FOR IT!!!)...one more step to being sustainable, and the whole solar thing...
Mine are 16 weeks tomorrow, so hope for some good luck when i go to let them out of the coop!!!
It's so frustrating everytime i go to check on them, i instinctively look in the nest boxes and i leave empty handed. I WANT EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!
I HOPE THEY LAY SOON!!!
Its so interesting to hear...
I'm just wondering when everybody's sexlink(s) started laying.
What color and how old was she when she laid her first egg?
Ok so here's mine- Red and still waiting at 15 weeks+6 days!!
