I am looking to get some Buff Opringtons... from Cackle Hatchery. Does anyone have specific advice?
I have Buff Orpingtons before. Praying for the best this time around! - Although, last time my Buff Opringtons never went broody, only the Australorps did; I'm hoping that the Orpingtons this...
Hello!
I am looking to get some more Buff Orpington chickens... but I am also looking into getting some Turkeys, too.
I think I will be ordering from Cackle Hatchery; I am not sure what breed to get (a "beginners type" would be preferrable). I would like once that can breed, are good foragers...
Correct me if I am wrong... but chickens (as do dogs) are hierarchical animals. When they are mounting one another they are not always mating - but sometimes simply showing dominance.

Thanks ChickenCanoe!!
Catalanas, Cubalayas, and Penedesencas - I have never heard of. Are they friendly? Good mothers? Go broody? Lay well? I'll research what I can about them.
I have heard of Delawares and Brahmas, they are good setters and mothers?
Would Speckled Sussex be good?
I think as of now it's a toss-up between Orpington, Australorp, or Jersey Giant. I am not sure which to get!! I would prefer only one of the three breeds. As when I had Orpington and Australorps they cross bred and the chickens were sex-linked (does this mean they can't re-produce?!?).
Are...
I've been looking at various breeds lately... and came across the NJ Giants. They look very stately. I am wondering a few things about them:
Do they lay often?
Go broody much?
Good mothers?
Docile?
Good foragers?
Friendly?
I have had Buff Orps and Australorps before this - and they were very...
Hello everyone!

So I am looking to get more, once I get my house rebuilt (it also burnt down in a fire last year), so I was wondering how Speckled Sussex...

You can view pictures of Orpinglorps on this older post of mine: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=221550
And pictures of them as chicks are on my former posting here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=221564
I am looking to either purchase some orpinglorps - or just breed them myself.
Buff Orpington Rooster vs. Australorp Hens.
I had some - but a dog that someone in my family got killed all my chickens. And my house burnt down... so we are starting over. We still have our three horses!
Good to...
Okay... I've never been to one of these ''SWAP MEET'' things - but I'm *really* interested!!
I was thinking about bringing my Orpinglorps... but if I choose not to. Can I just bring cash monies to make a purchase? (or do I *have to trade up*?)
Thanks,
Craig
PS: You can PM me if you have...
Hrm. That might be very interesting! I'll have to check it out...
So I can bring my full grown chickens and trade them?
Can I just bring cash and buy some stuff?!?
