We had cucumber last night, basically a raw veggie plate. Tonight we had egg salad, corn on the cob baked in he ubben, and fried zucchini. That last was Melissa's idea. It wasn't breaded, just sliced the long way after cutting it in thirds, then fried in a little oil and butter till brown. Then...
...hard the rain starts to flow towards us and overruns the property. It's our first year living here and finally understood what the frenchdrain was for that went across the property. Unfortunately frenchdrains are not ideal for flowing water, but better suited to move standing water to...
I thought about this too but then would it be too high for rats?
It looks like continue leaking is the norm. I am so glad for you too.
I am sorry about Hazel and your potential problems with new chicks. I hope Isabel will thrive under your care.
I am a little behind so I hope Hazel has also...
Good for you standing your ground.
I do agree with treating symptoms, and the Meloxicam is wonderful to use. Helps with pain and inflammation.
When do you expect the test results back?
As for dust, unless they are 100% free ranging it’s always going to be an issue. All we can do is the best...
...at least. I like hemp too though it's mucho $. I explained I was trying to have a ground-like compost established ever since I did the Frenchdrain and raised the floor with pavers due to way too much water; she said to clear it out down to dampness, or all the way to the pavers if it's dry...
...jr successfully with no issues and that it’s easy to scoop. Do you find it drains pretty well? We have a covered run but need to get a Frenchdrain or something put in nearby because water tends to pool up all around and inside the run if we get several days of rain. I was hoping the sand...
...up heavy, wet straw. I’m actually thinking of installing a barkeepers beer drain to run the length of the cups for a permanent drain solution, and I can have a few beers without worrying about spillage while I’m pulling the hair out of my head. Not really- but maybe a Frenchdrain.
Thank you.
...girls. We never thought about the grading - such a big oversight! I'm kicking myself for not thinking about it, but it seemed insignificant when it wasn't raining all the time. Thankfully, it's not too late to put in Frenchdrains or trenches to divert the rain. We also need a better gutter...
Same here! I am sick of this poop soup. I plan to dig out the mud and put down gravel. A frenchdrain or even just a trench to divert the water away definitely helps.
...we're not sure how much to put down (especially with the barn lime).
What do you do for your wet walkways/paths? We're probably going to look into a frenchdrain or maybe adding some pebbles for drainage. However, I don't want to waste money if there's a quicker or easier solution. Help...
Here’s something I shared on her IG account that I thought I’d share with y’all. Bri has been doing amazing lately and even has learned a few French words like, “voici” “tu es un très belle fille!” “Arrêt!” And “très bien!”
Bridgette has seen and heard so many things, and still has a lot to...
What a lovely field for them to play. Making it hard for predators to get thru barriers is a must & you put a lot of work into it. I can't imagine how you folks w/snow manage to keep chickens❣️
Good news that the CBD helped. It's nice that you've got better temps now to spend time w/the girls 💕.
Oh so nice to hear from you! And thanks for the update.
Glad to hear all your hard work with the run have paid off! You are hired!
Your ladies are looking great ♥️
...with me.

FrenchDrain & Run Pavers Update: Working Great!!
With all the days of steady rains, drizzle, etc., I can report that though the area around the chickens has been...
...it would stay dry, but it isn't (which is nice for a variety of reasons) but the water washes through. We are going to also put in a frenchdrain up the way a bit to help with that to channel the water away.
I let the babies out!! The youngest are 3 weeks old and they were ITCHING for it...
