Granny's gone and done it again

Your body heals best while you are asleep. It doesn't have to concentrate on the million things you have to do during daylight hours and being awake. It can just put it's full attention to damage control.

Hi @ShrekDawg. Been meaning to say that all day. How's the poison ivy rash doing?

Happy belated birthday Mr. Blue.

Was this in reference to something particular?
Sorry to hear about your DH. I hope everything goes smoothly.
Ummmmm...no I don't think so other than not to fight being sleepy right now and to listen to your body when it tells you to lay down and rest.

Anesthesia by itself can have lasting side effects on your body. Especially at our 'tender' ages. It can linger on days after you have your surgery because it takes longer for old livers and kidneys to clear it out of your system.

I told my husband the same thing. If he felt like laying down, for goodness sake, listen to his body and lay down!

Thanks, Granny. You have so much on you right now. I'll just be glad when DH has that abscess drained and the drain put in. I just found out that the hospital has a place on campus that you can stay if you have a loved one in the hospital or the loved one is on chemo and needs to be in the area for weeks on end. So I called them. It's called the Tree House and only costs 40$ a night. My jaw dropped and it's right on the hospital campus so I made a reservation for us for Monday night. There was just no way that we were going to be able to get up and get on the road at 3 AM to be there before 7:30. I had the nicest chat with the lady on duty there tonight. She said it was what the Tree House was designed to do and we were very welcomed to stay Monday night. That's one worry off our shoulders.

@Rambling Iris your poor DH sounds miserable. I hate that stage of being sick with an upper respiratory misery and you need to cough that gunk loose yet it feels like you are ripping a lung out every time you try. Give him my best.

@Granny Hatchet, do you think that the chest pain could be due to stress? If my logic is on line here, you had an EKG before you had your surgery and that EKG had to be fairly normal before they would put you under anesthesia. So the only two possibilities that come to mind are stress or really really really bad indigestion. Neither one is a load of fun and can cause chest discomfort. Lord knows you have been under a lot os stress lately also so maybe.....I know it's scary when it happens and makes you feel less than wonderful but might be something to consider. Might be something to discuss with one of your docs at some point.

As for the peaches, we have a few for eating. I'm just glad that I could give them to somebody who was willing to pick them for me. Just too much going on and every night there are deer out in the front yard checking out the 7 heirloom peach trees we have and the Alberta along with an apple tree we have there also. The Alberta tree has never had a harvest this good before and I was wanting to make some jam but maybe next year or the year after. The Heirlooms aren't ripe yet. They are apricot sized, sweet as sugar and mke great jam also. I told the kids they could have them when they get ripe along with some of the apples.....if I can keep the deer out of them. Same for the apple trees. They have 2-3 weeks before they start to ripen. I've picked them in the middle of Sept before so the longer they hang, the sweeter they are.

Yes, I think your probably right. I wondered if it might be a panic attack from stress.. I wanted my fruit trees to grow as yours are but never gonna happen. It was an Alberta I chopped down. My apples are stunted and wormy

@twisted-acres-farm When are you leaving, which one did you pick and are you taking your old boy to the farm or??

Forgot to tell you, on Larrys thread, Im so old I remember when..Someone was talking about you! :eek:And to beat it all it was on your birthday too!
Monday morning and just myself heading down and back since I actually get to sleep on this trip.
Will keep Krima here in town at least until we are done with the puppy shots.

For me right now, my colon is responding to stress. It's grumbling so hard that I can hear it and I'm bloated on top of it. In the past I've had heart palpitations due to stress so yeah, I can relate.

As for the fruit trees, DH dumped about three big buckets of chicken coop offerings around them last fall. I didn't think we would have a crop as we had an early warm spell this spring followed by a killing freeze down in the low 20s. I was sure it would destroy the blossoms on the trees but it didn't. There is so much fruit on the peach trees that the limbs are dragging on the ground. One Alberta broke over half of the limbs off due to the weight. I don't know if we will be able to save it but I think we may try to just trim it back drastically and let it try to resprout new growth limbs.

We don't spray our trees for any insects and we don't seem to see many worms in them either. I was looking at one of the apple trees in the orchard and was surprised to see some fruit that looked like it was hit by worms. I don't worry too much about them as the yellow jackets tend to feed on the blemished fruit and leave the good apples alone.

Our big problem is our Asian Pear trees. We have on tree that will bloom heavily, set fruit and when the fruit is almost mature it will drop all the fruit. It's done it every year since it was old enough to bear fruit. We have no idea why it does it.

Heading for bed Granny land. Hope everyone has pleasant dreams or at least warm fuzzy ones.
