@Miss Lydia could you help or know anyone who could? Shes in a cage right now but it doesnt look broke, am i good to let her do her thing with the others until i find a solution?
Please help!
Its been a little over a week now that my duck isn't using her foot. It seems to want to curl up. I didnt see any signs of bumble foot. And my vet tech sister in law didnt feel any break so i dont know what it could be.
Ill post photos later today.
It didnt go back in and we had decided to cull her :'( my beautifull blue egg layer... now another issue has come up... my last ee spends its days with its eyes closed perched up her roost and doesnt move... :( i only have 10 fricken chicken and theres always something wrong with them!!!! My...
Ok so its ok if she spends a day or two with it protruding out of her she is fine as long as it stays lubricated like it wont stay in for more than lkke 20 seconds..
She might lay an egg today i put her in a dark room in a dog cage last night. She seems to be pooping ok. Poop definitely coming out.
Ive pushed it in idk how many times! I gave her a 15 minute epsom salt bath then applied sugar and honey waited a few minutes then pushed it in for it to pop back out, push it in and just when i thought i had it she pooped and it came out... i put her back in her cage with it still sticking out...
Update.... its still out this am.... should i watch her every nlfew minutes and non stop keep pushing it back in? Its bloody... i am going to soak her in epsom salt for a bit then put honey then try to push it in again.... i have saline spray is that something i can use on it before applying...
Thank you. It keep pushing back out after a bit ive pushed it back in and held for a few minutes 3 times tonight... hopefully the swelling will do down and it stay inside tonight..
Also note that its been bloody. I dont think others got to peck it
I will give an update when i get up.
So ive done just this, and later when i checked on her its was waay out again and theres blood.... we also have many people on fhe house so the bird might not be as relaxed because theres lots of noise that i cant control... i will check her when i wake up and see where we are at....
I am currently giving her a warm bath with epsom salt... i have to farm anti biotics or anything besides bag balm. So after soaking her for a bit i apply polysporin and try to push it back in gently. I also have saline in a spray idk if thats usefull?
@Eggcessive i saw that you commented on a few posts, is this a very bad case? Is my first step bathing her? Then i put oil and in a cage for a few days secluded from the others? Do i need to ry to push it back in? Do i wait till the swelling goes down?
Thanks everyone they have integrated well with the others and ae now spending the night in the coop. I still have a heat lamp running for the colder nights.
I had a hen hatch 1 chick in november so i kept them in the basement all winter. I live in northern ontario where theres still many feet of snow. The temp is started to be steady at around 0 to 4°C during the day to around -2 to -9°C at night. Theres still a heat lamp in my coop.
Im wondering...
Thank you everyone your your help.. i decided that it was time to let go. I brought it at my neighbors to have her culled as i am not tough enough to do it myself..
No all ot does is lay on its side and when it stands up it backs itself into a corner sometimes flipping itself on its back.... the only way it can eat or drink is by holding it against its box and supporting its head or wrapping it in a towel...
