Fence to keep my pilgram geese in. (Moveable)

Well I broke down and bought the moveable fencing from Preimer, 200 ft. I've had it a week and so far it has worked well. It is so easy to set and very sturdy too, very impressed with it. I'm in unique situation, no stray dogs or coyotes but I don't know if I want to have my neighbors put up...

    Christmas Goose (Roasted?) Poll

The best turkey's i've ever had (so juicy) were brined and if I were to cook a goose I'd try the same. Doesn't have to be that fancy either. Here is a web site for some idea's. http://www.ochef.com/r121.htm

Thinking about getting some ducks...would like some opinions.

I have had ducks for about 5 or 6 years and chickens abit longer. The thing I like about ducks is that they don't care if it's cold or snowy, they are extremely winter hardy but need to preen themselves about three times a week. I don't know if you would keep ducks if I didn't have a pond for...

Need recommendation on a turkey feeder

Your feeder just needs modified. The sides and the front that slants out should have a higher lip so it will splatter less. Also, you can lower your front edge (part with the label on it) so the feed doesn't get so high in your exposed part. I make homemade ones just like yours and love em...

    homemade pondmaster pump prefilter

So here the main body of the prefilter. The soffit were it joined needed to be fastened together, I used sheet metal screws. When I didn't, it would come apart at the seam and large chunks of weeds would get through and plug the impeller. Also, I had to attach the buckets to the soffit near...

    homemade pondmaster pump prefilter

So here are some pics, this is how the pump attaches to the ice cream bucket, the female end of the pvc fitting must be cut (I did mine with a hacksaw blade ) so it compresses over the male end of the pump. I also made some plastic washers to give the ice cream bucket some extra rigidity. Of...

Advantage of geese and goats over cattle

With cattle herds at a 38 year old, will other meat animal's make a comeback? I think animals that can reproduce in great quanities would be an advantage, poultry and pork come to mind but goats can reproduce quickly also. I think that animals that are herbavores would be a benefit, since they...

Fence to keep my pilgram geese in. (Moveable)

Thanks for the reply's. I'm still at a loss. With grassmans experience it doesn't look like the premier fencing would be a safe option for me. It still needs to be moveable so I don't know how hard it would be to move a metal fence every week or two.

    homemade pondmaster pump prefilter

Hi Gang, Just checking in with those folks that have ponds and pond pumps with prefilters that like to clog in less than six hours. I have a pondmaster mag pump and works great and is super durable but clogs quickly, typically not even a half a day. I have experimented with different ideas...

Goose with bum leg better, supplements given

I am new to geese, have a 5-7year history with chickens and ducks. I sneaked in a couple of day old pilgrams on my wife this spring and she hasn't divorced yet. I have really enjoyed them but my male limped a bit about a month ago and seemed to get better and a couple of weeks ago got much...

    Daytime predator :(

I don't have predator problems but my beekeeper does. And he has good luck catching foxes in live traps but his traps are rather large. Funny thing is, he tells me the foxes typically are not the one to kill his chickens, feral cats and loose dogs are. I've have to ask him about what he uses...

    Probably a stupid question..

I have had ducks for about five years and I never clipped wings to prevent flying off. My ducks always came back (black calls), and it was really cool seeing them fly just like a wild duck. The other breeds could never get to far off the ground. For me, the bigger concern was predators, does...
