Good luck finding your new hen. I think a slow introduction will be the best way. I hope things go good.

    Advice needed on flock introductions

good luck and sorry about your rooster . I ended up having to get rid of 3 roosters this year out of 10 birds. It was hard. We were all very attached to them. They were the sweetest of the flock. We miss them. Here is a picture of Marygold, now Marty

Thanks a bunch. So that is not what I have . Thanks for the picture. I think that I have either a Buttercup or Golden Campine. I hope it is the Golden Campine because the buttercup is not cold tolerant and has a wierd comb. Thanks again

    Just received my new chicks

Hi, can you post a picture of your little Spangled Hamburg? I got a mystery chick with my other chicks this Tuesday and I am trying to see if she is a Spangled Hamburg, but I cannot seem to find any little baby chick pictures of that kind. Or I could post a picture of mine and you could tell...

    Hamburg thread!

Hi, I ordered a mystery chicken from Meyer's and I am wondering if it is a Golden Spangled Hamburg. Does anyone have a picture of a Golden Spangled baby chick? Also, are there any other things that would separate the looks of a Golden Spangled baby chick from a Buttercup or Golden Campine? Thanks

    Advice needed on flock introductions

You can probably find another hen pretty easy on Craigs list. Then for the introduction put the new one in a cage within the others space so they can see eachother, but not get to eachother. Then let the new one roam around the space of your old one, with out the old one in there. Put the new...

    Faverolles Thread

Cloverleaf- they are about 10 or 11 weeks old. I thought they might settle down once they are mature, but they sure do act different than my other 3 chickens. Just goofy . They are definitely not aggressive or mean, just ski-dish if I try to touch them. They will come and see what I am doing...

    Faverolles Thread

yea!!!!! Thanks for the quick response. My other one is such a contrast. They are really funny chickens. I tried to get them from a breeder, but it didn't work out. Then, since I had to have Favs I ordered these 2 from a hatchery. I probably should have waited. These are really shy and don't...

    Faverolles Thread

Hi, I am looking to the experts here. I ordered 2 Favs from Meyers in the spring. They are now about 10 weeks old. The problem is one is very light and the other is pretty dark. Do I have a cockeral here? If so this will be my 4th male when I've ordered all pullets. That is about half my...

What chicken do you guys think suits my needs?

I agree, from what I've read that the Black Austalorp would be a great pick. I read that they will lay year round and are nice birds. I also like the Easter Egger. Pretty birds with colorful eggs.

your favorite breeds? need ideas on which breeds to get!

I have heard that too. They are also big and they eat a lot and not many eggs a week. I had 2 young roos and they were so sweet and beautiful but they don't sound that practical. Yard art I've heard. But I really want 2. . They are like a hand full of feathers. With my 2 little guys, that was...
