Not all easter eggers will have the beard and muffs. I had one that was a cream legbar/swedish flower mix that didn't. Easter eggers are crosses between any breed and a blue egg layer, I do agree whatever blue egg layer was probably mixed with SLW
I didn't think it was, It's all good. Our others are buttercup, duchess, cinnamon, pansy, rosie, rainbow, and skittles. It's easy to see which ones she has been allowed to name. She has a vivid imagination. lol
I finally got my first CCL egg from my Duchess, at the grand old age of 38 weeks. While I am happy she laid I am a little disappointed in the color. It isn't that different from my EE's. Here is a pic for comparison. The top egg is my EE's the bottom right from Duchess. I was hoping for a pretty...
It's just clear plastic, I found it on ebay, I needed something with a lid as my eggs sit on the counter under my tupperware cabinet and you know how that is, something always falling out. didn't want my precious eggs getting broken lol, Just cannot keep that cabinet organized to save my life!
Yay! Got my pullets back in September, Finally got them in the coop the end of November, Got my first egg February first, and today got 5 eggs :) I have 7 and only one is still not laying but I think she (my CCL) is about a week or two younger than the others. Only one freeloader left :) Seeing...
Welcome, from across the river to the west! I'm in Davie County just on the other side of Winston. Can I make the assumption based on your username that y'all are at Bowman Gray? I am also a relative newbie, got my first girls in September at right about the age you have now. They are just...
Welcome! I am also from NC. Cadbury is a beautiful hen, she reminds me of our skittles who is yes, an Easter Egger. We love them so full of personality :)
My little RIR Rosie has been dutifully giving us (almost) daily eggs since the first of the month (only skipped 2 days so far) This morning after I got her egg went back out and found one in the run. I think it was from my BO Buttercup. Must have taken her by surprise. Went to clean out the coop...
Just got my first egg from my girls on Feb 1st. It was from Rosie, our RIR she laid then skipped a day and has laid every day since. Now if the others will just jump on the bandwagon :)
congrats! Nothing like that first egg. I got my first one Monday, and she has laid every day since but one. Now if the other girls would just catch on!
My motley crew will all be 24 weeks Friday. They all look ready but one, one EE is squatting regularly, and I think I heard the egg song this morning. Evil hens are now taunting me. Still no eggs. :(
Hope everybody is able to stay warm Moomoodiddy, hope your calf and mommy is doing well. I am running water out every couple of hours to my small flock and checking for eggs. (none yet stinking freeloaders, don't they know they are supposed to lay right at 24 weeks ) That said one of my EE's has...
